The color still isn't there, but they look kinda cool against the snow.

Thanks FTR. That is a lot of birds! I guess they were hungry ... needed
to build resistance to the effects of snow after the warmer days. I
watched it snowing in Dublin ... much earlier this morning. It was
falling fast and heavy, pretty to watch. There were big trucks driving
through town in the snow.

Betty formulated the question :
We got about three inches I think, I was expecting it to rain more than
snow. Good thing it did though, the birds show up better. I got another
clip from the bathroom window above the lilac. There has to be 200 or
so goldfinches out there. I think they need the food right now, but we
will stop soon when they can surely find enough food elsewhere.

Another look at the cam in Dublin earlier showed very heavy fog, but the
parking lot drive was clear, as if the snow had melted after the plow
cleared it. Your weather is iffy strange ... just like Texas.

The birds are used to free food at *your* house, may take them awhile to
re-orient themselves to hunting on their own. There's a lot of
competition for food. There were two robins in the alley in front of my
driveway Tuesday. They appeared to be fighting, flying and pecking at
each other face to face. Maybe there will be nests around here soon.

It melted away pretty quickly, I got the snow on the twigs on that
video clip, and a couple of minutes later the birds and the warming air
cleared them all off. It's much harder to see them without the snow.

It seems that they travel around in these feeding flocks, but this is a
pretty big one. I saw a few juncos and titmice but by far more
goldfinches.

Likely here too, I was happy to see the bluebirds here earlier, maybe
they will visit the birdbath later this season.

I saw the snow on the branches, it looked nice the way it covered them.
Too bad it melted so quickly. A big rain storm blew through here around
four o'clock, it poured. That was a surprise. I'm ready to move my
now-small collection of plants outside, but I don't want bad weather to
ruin the one chrysalis on the orange tree. I want to see a giant
swallowtail emerge.

The flock of birds *was* big, I don't remember ever seeing that many at
your feeders.

The bluebirds are pretty. The indigo bunting is especially striking. I
wonder why you have those and not the painted bunting. The range is
large for the indigo and very small for the painted. According to the
maps, I should see both.
