that the cost of making music has come down and that musicians
are realizing that MIDI programs and electric guitars can meld
effectively. _Belly To The Ground_ should have stayed in the
basement, at least until these guys came up with some material
that sounded a little less... influenced.

The Offspring
_Smash_
Epitaph

After listening to this band's brilliant melodic hardcore debut,
_Ignition_, I couldn't imagine how they would ever be able to top
it.

They haven't.

This is still a great album, however; fast, melodic punk heavily
influenced by bands like Bad Religion, Dag Nasty, and Operation
Ivy. California punk is alive and well. This album is a must-
get, but also pick up their debut. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful South
_Miaow_
Go! Discs/Polygram

Much controversey has surrounded this band in their time away.
Brianna Corrigan left the band over some lyrics which implied PC-
bashing; Morrisey and Johnny Marr were thretening to sue over a
line in "Hidden Jukebox" (changed); HMV has banned the album
throughout the world because of the cover (which is going to be
changed) which is similar looking to the labels logo.

Don't expect to find the big single here. If you're looking for
a "Song For Whoever" or "Old Red Eyes," it will be a long search.
The songs are still cute as ever but not quite cute enough. The
band has a large local following locally and this shouldn't
change. This one is more for the fans than it is for a new
listener.
