I am sure this is spreading like wildfire, but I haven't seen it here
yet. Note this is hearsay and it is coming from a *christian* punk
rocker, but it seems pretty damn believable. It will make you highly
question printing your zine at Punks With Presses:

Hello My name Is Jeff Ott. I want to relate to you some stuff that has=20
been taking place at 924 Gilman street and the east bay lately.
On October 5th, 1996 A kid came to the Gilman membership meeting and=20
said that Three weeks prior Jux, who runs Punks With Presses, had=20
provided him with liquor to the point of him passing out. He said that=20
when he came to consciousness Jux was trying to rape him. This came as=20
a shock to me. I have been using Punks With Presses to make cd covers=20
for awhile now, I had never heard anything like that about Jux. =20
However I figured that since I don=B9t really hang out with people that=20
drink or use drugs anymore I=B9m sort of out of the gossip loop. So=20
anyway, the membership meeting had a really heated discussion about=20
what to do. Eventually by the end of the Meeting we decided to elect 5=20
people to form a committee to investigate the charges against Jux. =20
About 15 people volunteered. I and four others were elected. A short=20
while later the show started and Jux showed up to refute the=20
allegations. Those of us on the committee went down the street and had=20
him tell us his side of the story. Upon returning to the club a friend=20
pointed at a kid and told me that I should talk to him.
I went down the street with the kid and asked him what his experiences=20
with Jux were. The kid went on to tell me about a wide variety of=20
abuses, ranging from emotional blackmail(if you don=B9t have sex with me=20
you=B9re homophobic) to sexual harassment to rape. He pointed me towards=
=20
some other people who had similar stories. =20
On of those people I talked to was a woman who used to work at the=20
presses. She told me she had non-first hand information about a kid=20
who was also forced into sex. She recommended that I talk to another=20
woman. She also said that she saw Jux inappropriately touching two=20
young people at a backyard show just lately.
A friend of mine talked to a woman that was at the Punks With Presses=20
warehouse on the night that the first kid said Jux tried to rape him. =20
She said that he was way too drunk to even deal with issues like=20
consent. =20
The I talked to another woman who used to work at the press. She told=20
me about four specific incidences she knew of. An eighteen year old=20
being raped by Jux. A kid on tour being sexually assaulted. An=20
ex-boyfriend of Jux=B9s claims he was physically and emotionally abused. =
=20
And a kid being invited to live at Jux=B9s warehouse and after the kid=20
refused to give Jux sex Jux kicked him out. I was also directed to=20
talk to another person I used to hang out with.
I talked to her, she said a friend of hers(14yrs. old) hung out with=20
jux for a while after the beginning he felt like he couldn=B9t leave. =20
She said that Jux would lay a guilt trips of =B3you=B9re homophobic if you=
=20
don=B9t give me sex=B2 on the kid. She also said that she had second hand=
=20
knowledge of Jux having to leave southern California as a result of him=20
having big trouble with somebody=B9s parents.
I then talked to a guy on the phone. He used to work briefly at the=20
press. He said that Jux would use age, power, knowledge of scenesters=20
and money/alcohol/gifts to lure kids to him. He said Jux stalked=20
people over the internet. He said that he had a friend that worked at=20
the press for a short time until he denied Jux sex and then he was=20
fired. He also said that jux would use the Line =B3if you don=B9t have sex=
=20
with me you=B9re homophobic=B2. He also said he had knowledge of a kid who=
=20
went to sleep in the same place as Jux and woke up to find Jux=20
masturbating over him.
I then talked to a guy who Jux used to live with and he said he had no=20
first hand knowledge but that he was told that a kid who was roadying=20
for a band that Jux was traveling with woke up one night to find Jux=20
trying to take his pants off.
Lately a kid called my house and said that he was at a party at Jux=B9s=20
warehouse and was so drunk he couldn=B9t leave. He said that Jux came=20
and disrobed him and had sex with him.
The rest of the information was pretty second or third hand, however=20
they all echoed the same patterns.
1. buying a young boy gifts/ liquor.
2. boy gets way too drunk.
3. Jux Says something to the effect of =B3if you don=B9t sleep with me=20
you=B9re homophobic=B2.
4. boy either is too drunk to express =B3no=B2
or
5. boy says no and Jux doesn=B9t stop.
6. boy is asleep and has his pants removed or has Jux. masturbating=20
over him.
Then I talked to a friend who works at the club he said that he knew=20
of an incident where two young guys were allowed to crash at Jux=B9s=20
Warehouse. One of them was passed out and Jux was trying to disrobe=20
him, the other guy tried to stop Jux from disrobing him and Jux kicked=20
them both out as a result. This was the last straw for me, the kid he=20
was trying to disrobe was a 17 year old kid I squatted with for more=20
than 3 years. I was always overprotective of this kid because by the=20
time he was 15 he lost his dad, mom, sister and brother to accidents=20
and disease.
I quit the committee at the next membership meeting. There were a few=20
people who all came to the meeting with Jux. They tried to dissolve=20
the committee and refocus the clubs attention on just the incidence=20
with initial kid who made the original allegation, and how they should=20
seek outside mediation, and how it was not a matter for the club. I=20
talked to the kids that I knew that had stuff happen to them and let=20
them know that I was at their disposal and that I would facilitate any=20
action (short of murder) they wanted to take against Jux. They didn=B9t=20
seem to want to testify in court, not because they didn=B9t want him=20
locked up but because they didn=B9t want to go through the=20
retramatizating of the court process. We decided to put out a zine to=20
warn others about how Jux operates and who he is.
We have included some information about these issues because the events=20
of late have proved that our community does not know how to deal with=20
rape, molesting, partner violence, pedophilia, etc. A number of women=20
tried to raise the issue of Jux=B9s behavior and nobody listened. Quite=20
a few other people never said anything at all.=20
We have a few requests from you:
1. Protect yourself.=20
2. Don=B9t take your business to Punks With Presses, the money is likely=
=20
to be used to lure the next victim.
3. Pass this information on.
4. Speak.
5. Act.

I'm withholding judgment on whether the allegations are true.
But it DOES kind of make sense that a screeching PC punk would be a rapist
and I'd be a stay-at-home family man. Life is often sweetly poetic that
way.

First, I'd like to know the motivation behind this. Its awfully nice to
present one side of a STORY, and neglect the other. Also, lets keep in mind
the subject to this thread: GOSSIP.
How can anyone make statements like this, and then pronounce judgment based
on hearsay and conjecture. I've only communicated with Jux on a few
occassions, and I've never worked with PwP, but I know their work, and I
find them to be quite professional.
The spreading of gossip, rumors and innuendo is, what I feel, very
inappropriate.
I also think it is a bit unfair to just up and say "take your business away
from Punks with Presses" before any FACTS are discovered and the TRUTH is
revealed.
But, hey, who cares about the truth, or the facts. Its too easy, and too
much fun to gossip and destroy someone's reputation.
If these alligations turn out to be truth, then you must decide for
yourself what is an appropriate course of action.
I am not in any way shape or form taking a "side" in this debate. I am
simply commenting on the appropriatness of this post.

At this point it is no longer just gossip. The punx at Gilman St. have met
with some of the victims and had a few meetings about what to do. I am
It's up to you if you want to support Punx With Presses anyway (insert duh
here). I personally found them hard to support in the first place after
they censored that ad a few years ago on the back of a zine and because
their prices are just too high for printing zines. -dan

FACT: PWP promises what they can't deliver.
FACT: PWP promises jobs in a timely manner even when they take longer
than they say.
FACT: PWP has censored material they've printed because they didn't feel
it was politically correct, i.e., they didn't agree with it.
FACT: PWP has tried to monopolize some of their business.
FACT: PWP has ignored legitimate complaints regarding their business.

Bullshit. You said you found them to be professional, therefore implying
you're on their side.
