Anyone know that BRAIN CELL guy from Japan
who does the global rubberstamp collage art?

This was years ago. Is he still going?

Man, he sent me some supercool original stamp art collages.
I have no idea who he was really. Just got this semianonymous
stuff in the mail from BRAIN CELL.

who does this publication? whats it about? anyone got a price and an
address? thank you in advanced, damon

about the oldschool mail-artists/zinesters: I did not find anything having to
do with them through more conventional zines, my search lead me to a book
called Copy Art which i found at my local library, anyone read this? i
found it wholly enjoyable, and it being so dated added to this. Ray Johnson
(if i remeber correctly) was a wild character. Can anyone point me in a
direction where i can find out more about him?

I have a love for collage art (when it's done well). If there are any
collage art or collected mail art zines being published, flash an
address and I'll buy it.

Global Mail
POB 1309
Grove City Factory Stores
Grove City PA 16127 USA
.
16 fullsize newsprint pages
of, pretty much, addresses
including a long section
on art projects.
for some reason i *haven't* reviewed it
in my new ish, but, trust me on this one,
it's great and you need it.
$3 and worth every zloty of it.

_travelling_shoes_ is by
h. d. miller (a regular here).
as it happens, there's a review right here
in the new issue of *my* zine
(from a section on alt.zines):
.
TRAVELLING SHOES
(Number Three Fall, 1999).
I'd have to say this one wins ``best of show' '
-- & in a very strong field, at that.
It's mostly text (with just enough graphics
that each page spread looks different
from all the others),
& H. D. Miller writes very well.
This particular issue is entirely about Seville --
but that can mean local history,
the tourist's quest for the ever-elusive ``authenticity'',
a description & interpretation of bullfighting,
or comments on the God-awfulness
of Spanish hamburgers (for example).
The non-Seville stuff is 3 pages of zine reviews (bravo!).
$2 for 52 digest pages.
Box 206653 New Haven CT 06520.
.
h.d. said something here recently
to the effect that he was leaving the country again soon.
as far as i know, he'll still get his mail,
but you should probably allow a little extra time.

It's Ryosuke Cohen. I haven't heard from him in a while, but then I
haven't sent him anything.

As for Ray Johnson, there are many places to go. Just do a search.

I asked that q awhile ago and got this in email reply:

Ryosuke Cohen

Now, there's a name for ya! :) Does anyone have a mental picture?
My own has always been a bit tweaked between global stereotypes.
