Upon reading Japanese Death Poems,
Compiled and with an Introduction by Yoel Hoffmann
Tuttle Publishing
One come upon a translation of a poem by: Li Po
Entitled "Self-Consolation"
The Poem is four lines long
Each lie composed of five characters
The literal translation:
facing wine not distinguishing twilight
fall flower(s) pile up I/my robe
drunk rise walk valley moon
bird(s) return man also rare
Darshaneneazram playfully painting:
Beholding the wine who is distinguishing the twilight
The fall flowers pile up upon my robe
Drunk, I rise and walk amidst the valley moon
The birds return and the man also, this is rare.
Amidst the twilight robe the moon is rare
Distinguishing the self and the valley also
I do not pile up, but walk as a man
Wine flowers rise and return
Facing the fall of drunk birds
Love and Blessings from:
A field of silence
In a sea of solitude
A beholding light
In the empty sky!

Tried any like this yourself?

Bird?
That was fun Eric. I can't reproduce your patchwork but here's my take on
the translation.
(I think it is a spring poem, not "fall" :-D )
Contemplating the wine, not noticing the twilight,
falling flowers pile up on my robe.
Drunk, I rise and walk the valleys of the moon.
Migrating birds return - we may also, occasionally.
Do you have any more of those?.

Light from the mirror ball spins rapidly
naked dancers undulate slowly.

somewhere in the mountains a drunk falls down.

To have such playful companions
On the road of this joyful journey

that would be the lap dancing then, would it?

awake - softly, the petals float on the water.
asleep - on hard stones on the empty ground.
In the evening, the moon over flowing fields;
in the morning, light under endless skies.
