Namaste,

I´m about to enroll on a 2 month vedanta/yoga camp with Swami
Dayananda Saraswati in Arsha Vidya Gurukulam at Anaikatti, Coimbatore,
India.

Do you have any tips?

Many thanks, Hari Om,

DaCunha,

Wow, been a while since I've seen your nic here in alt.yoga. Good to
hear from you.

Suggestions for a visit to an ashram? Based on my own experience of
visiting a Sivananda ashram here in the US, I offer you a little jnana
yoga exercise you can do in preparation for your journey.

Sit quietly, still your mind and your emotions. Enter a meditative
state and then with pencil to paper make a list of all your
expectations, hopes and desires regarding your visit to the ashram.
Then, one by one, imagine the fulfillment of each of these. What would
it be like, how would it feel, what would you tell someone about it
and how would they respond etc. Be as detailed as you can.

Set your list aside for a day or so and then after entering a
meditative state, review the list, one by one, and visualize each of
your expectations, hopes or desires, not being met. What might that
look like, how would you feel, who would you tell about it and what
would you say, etc.

Again after setting aside your list for a bit, review it once more.
This time imagine letting go of (or not having at all) each of the
expectations, fulfillments or negations you have listed. What would
that look like, how might that play out, how would you feel, how would
this touch you and others, etc. Be as detailed as you can.

As a conclusion to this exercise, please come back and share any
thoughts or insights (positive or negative) you have :-)

Warmest regards,

Jared

You will probably fly to chennai and will be taken by Bus to Ashram. Be
ready to face dust, Dry climate(unless you are going there during monsoon).
Be ready for Vegetarian food(chapatis and rice) unless they have told you
that bread and westeren food will be provided. You can purchase Musquito
repellents locally but be ready to face Musquitoes also. Be prepared for
cultural shock unless you have been to India before. All your classes will
hopefully be in English but prayers maynot be. Go with an open mind and
enjoy the experience(negetive/different).
Wish you all the best in your yoga journey
Rao
