I have been working on poetry for some time now and am interested in eventually
getting it published. Irealize this question is a little difficult to answer
without knowing how good my work is, but how difficult is getting published? I
realized that the reputation of the publishing company or journal hasd a lot to
do with it, but any comments would be appreciated, especially those comments
from people who have either been published or have submitted work.

I thought I had wrote a masterpiece Vandy until I asked for a
critique. I even stupidly submitted it prior to a review. What I have
learned is, proof, rewrite, review and keep the cycle going until
you're sure it's right, then have a professional editor review
everything that you plan on submitting and follow their advice. That
will up your success rate greatly.
Good luck.

Most of the poetry, including the great poetry of the 19th and 20th
centuries was self published.

remove nospam to send me mail. No I don't want to make a million dollars or earn $53124 in the next two month.

Hi.
Have you got (or can you get), a copy of 'Writers & Artists Yearbook, 1999?
It's poetry section offers guidelines for getting into print, on radio, on
the net, and it lists publishers. My copy is an Australian one, but America
should have the equivalent.
Regards, Shannon.
(quick quizz....is the first comma above in the right place?)

>The most complete guide is the Writer's Market, but there is also an American
version of the Artist and Poets Market. A rather thin book compare to the
Writers Market.

Regarding getting poetry published, I've heard it's a difficult market. . I
have a friend, Eri...@aol.com. who has published several small books of his own
poetry. He might be able to tell you more. Hope this helps.
