Dear Pope Francis:
<
You, Your Holiness, are welcomed with open arms
to this world of sinners.
<
You already have proven -- in your first few days as
the new Pontiff -- that you are, firstly, a Man of the People
and, secondly, a most wonderful representative of the Man
Upstairs.
<
May you have Godspeed on your journey as Holy Father.
<
For now, however, I have only one request.
<
Do not hesitate canonizing your very first Saint.
<
Pope John XXIII, as everyone knows, was a man much
like yourself. He was extremely humble -- as you are --
and he dearly loved his fellow man (as you already
have proven you certainly do).
<
The world -- Catholics, Protestants, other religious
and even agnostics -- had a true friend when Angelo
Giuseppe Roncalli served so graciously as Pope
a half-century ago. May you, Your Holiness, follow
in his footsteps. I believe they have another true
friend in you.

As you well know, Pope Francis, it had taken many years for
the Roman Catholic church to beatify Pope John. But for too
many years afterward, this true Saint's sainthood has been
placed on the Back Burner, being denied the honor he so richly
deserves.
<
Okay, I understand at least two miracles are required for
sainthood. Well. I think we had at least a half-dozen
when -- 10 weeks after his death in June 1963 -- he
appeared inside a coal mine in Pennsylvania and played
an integral role in the rescue of those two miners.
<
Unfortunately the Vatican, must've been wearing blinders.

<
Pope Francis, please remove all of the existing obstacles
that have been blocking Pope John XXIII from being
declared a Saint.
<
Meanwhile, I can assure you, IF you continue doing what
you're doing, I'll probably write another letter like this to
a future Pope and put in the very good word about YOU.
<
Cordially,
<
