Windows 98 includes DriveSpace 3, an updated version
of the DriveSpace disk compression utility included with
Windows 95.
Originally included with MS Plus! for Windows 95, DriveSpace
3 can create compressed volumes of up to two gigabytes in size,
while the Windows 95 version was limited to 512 MB volumes.
DriveSpace compression is not compatible with the FAT32 file
system but only with FAT16.
Like FAT32, DriveSpace renders the data on your compressed drives
inaccessible to operating systems that do not support the technology.
eg Windows NT/2000/XP
Copy the data on the diskette to a Windows 98 computer's
hard disk (so creating an uncompressed copy), format the diskette,
then use a filesplitter which is fully compatible with Windows 98
and 2000.
Try the excellent freeware Splitter 3.1 from
http://MartinStoeckli.gmxhome.de/splitter/splitter.html
It can be used to split/unsplit entire directories, including
subdirectories and is only 58 K in size.
Compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP.
