Can anyone tell me how to change the name that my Windows 95 program is
registered to. By error, when I 1st bought the program I let a friend
borrow it and he put his info. in the registry part, and now after
reinstalling 95 on my system, It uses his name and company. It's very
annoying. Is there any way to rectify this situation. Thanks in advance.
Mary!
Please reply to me at Mar...@Sprynet.com if possible. Thanks again!

Cut and paste the text between the following lines into an empty
Text.file. Put in your correct last name. Be sure, that the last
line ends with an <Enter>. Rename this file to "Mary.reg".
Doubleclick the file and it is done.

----------------------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]
"RegisteredOwner"="Mary YourLastName"

-------------------------------------------------------

Hope it helps ;-)

To edit Win95's registration name or number
Start/Run/Regedit, go
to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. Look for
"ProductId", this is the registration number, or "Registered Owner". Make
your changes. I've included a link above to a handy little app that makes
this job easy.

Thanks a lot, Andreas. I have two further questions:

1) Must you remove the previous registry enter, or double clicking
Mary.txt will overwrite it?

2) The double <enter> after the line 'REGEDIT4' is mandatory?

3) Must REGEDIT be in capitals?

Thank you very much,
Haim

You should rename mary.txt to mary.reg. You need *not* remove the
previous entry. It will be overwritten.

>2) The double <enter> after the line 'REGEDIT4' is mandatory?

The last line *must* be closed by an <ENTER>. In other words: There
*must* be a blank line at the end of the file. No double <ENTER>
needed, but it will not hurt.

It must be exactxly, as I have written. I will send you a working
"Haim.reg" by e-mail. Double click it and you are registered
correctly as "Haim Guivon". OK?
