I have downloaded a free copy of zone alarm cos I've been advised to use a
firewall, BUT I do like to use the system restore facility quite often, and
it seems from recent posts that the two aren't compatible. Can anyone
advise?

Download the free version of sygate.

No prolems w/ system restore and the UI is much better than ZA's
free version.

JAD, I agree with you. I exit ZA when I am not online and it reverts to
creating restore points, let us know if ever they answer.

I use ZA 2.6.362 and WinME. The System Restore is
working without a problem, including making automatic
restore points. The only compatibility problem I have
found with System Restore has been with Norton AV 2001.
One of the three times I used System Restore it was
necessary to uninstall and reinstall NAV.

We are talking about the up to date version which came out in the last two

has been fixed, if ever.

Thanx everybody. My automatic system restore only seems to work
intermittently anyway so I always set a manual restore point eg before I
install anything. I'm trying out the sygate firewall first. Btw I like
this ng, you are all so friendly!! (except that prat that was mouthing off
the other day)

Not only do I not know what's going on, but I wouldn't know what to do about
it if I did.
