I need SPOOLSS.DLL file from Windows Millennium Edition (version
4.90.0.3000) to fix an error with Spool32.

I can't seem to obtain a Win Me CD. Does anyone know where else I can get
this file?

Look in your C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folders. You may find a full copy of
WindowsME, in one of the Cab folders. If you have a CD Writer, I would burn
the contents of the Options folder to it, so you'll have a full copy of
WindowsME.

I am having a problem with spool32 error messages (spoolss.dll) also, and I
have wondered if replacing both files might clear up the problem. I have
lost my printers (none set up) and I have been at wits end to figure out
what to do. I did some "fishing" and found in Windows\OPTIONS\CABS a bunch
of WIN_xx.CAB files that can be opened with Winzip. If you search long
enough (in the higher numbered files) you can find most of the Windows
files. spoolss.sll is in the WIN_17.CAB and spool32.exe is in WIN_15.CAB.
I did find a file in C:\WINDOWS\spool\PRINTERS (spool is a hidden directory)
that may be a clue to the solution. My spool32 "hate message" comes up when
I boot, and other times when possibly Windows thinks it needs to print. I
can force it by doing Start>Run spool32.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any other ideas.

I just replaced the spoolss.dll file and everything now seems to work OK. I
got my printers back and don't get error messages. I sure wish I had been
smart and brave enough to have done this two days ago!! Oh, well, I got
quite familiar with the insides of my computer.

Look for and update/re-install your printer drivers.
