Joy Behar spent a few moments on Tuesday begging former South Carolina GOP
Governor Nikki Haley to stay in the 2024 race for the Republican presidential
nomination — if only because she thought it would prove “annoying” to the
frontrunner, former President Donald Trump.

Behar made the comments during a Tuesday broadcast of the ABC midday talk
show “The View” and argued that Haley made Trump appear to be crazier by
comparison — something that she viewed as a positive development.

“The more she stays in, the more demented he looks. He needs … She needs to
stay there so that he can talk about her … just to annoy him,” Behar said.

Behar went on to compare “gaffes” between Trump and Biden, arguing that
Trump’s were somehow more indicative of cognitive issues. In recent weeks,
Trump has reportedly confused Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
(D-CA) and slurred through a few comments at rally speeches. In contrast,
Biden has continued to address people directly at public events in spite of
them not actually being present, and appears to have difficulty in finding
his way off stage.

Despite that, Behar’s overall assessment was that although Biden is becoming
“a little frail,” it was still clear to her that “the brain is working.”

Behar then asked her co-hosts whether they believed Biden had a better chance
of winning if Trump was the Republican nominee, and Sunny Hostin said, “He
does.”

“That’s a major gamble. That’s like a scary gamble,” co-host Alyssa Farah
Griffin was not as sure.

“He probably has a better chance against Donald Trump than he does against
Nikki Haley,” co-host Sara Haines added.

Haley appears ready to fulfill Behar’s request and remain in the race,
however. During a heated interview Tuesday morning — as voters began to cast
their ballots in the New Hampshire primary election — Haley told the hosts of
“Fox & Friends” that she planned to stay in the race to the end: “Americans
want a choice.”
