I am having a small wedding. 5 4 people that includes the wedding party. I
am doing most things at home. I am however going to purchase the bouquets,
corsages, and boutiners. The problem I am having is my colors are dark and
light blue. What flowers out there are these colors? For my bouquets I
would like a flower with nice stems because I want to wrap a ribbon around
them and use that as my bouquet. I would like to have an idea of what I
want before I go into a flower shop. Any suggestions would help.

Flowers are difficult! I looked extensively on the web before deciding on a
style and type. I found some interesting bouquets on
http://www.thebridesbouquet.com/ (these are silk, but the ideas are there...)
Another bride mentionned another web site- can't remeber what it was but it was
excellent. TONS of ideas!

Just search the web or check out Martha Stewart weddings...

When is your wedding? I'd love to make some suggestions.

Have you considered going with lighter-colored flowers for the contrast?
Dark flowers against dark dresses might disappear, visually. I would think
that a gorgeous creamy shade would be a wonderful alternative -- camellia,
calla lily, pale apricot roses....

Just a thought.

Boutienneres - there are always the traditional rose or carnation
variety, but one of the most lovely ones I've ever seen was made from
individual agapantha (lily of the nile) flowers. These trumpet shaped
blooms are a lighter shade of blue with darker blue or white striations.
Inexpensive and very attractive when combined with greens.

You could also use bachelor buttons (cornflowers) which are available in
blues, ranging from the most pastel to deeper hues or wired blossoms
that match the attendants' bouquets.

Corsages - I've always asked the recipients (or found out by some other
method) what their favorite flower was and tried to accomodate that. My
mom loved gardenias, my grandmother was a wildflower nut, etc. etc. :)
Other than that, I would go with what your florist recommends will work
best with your overall look.

Bouquets - I've always liked the layered look, in this case, shades of
blues. I know that some recommend complimentary colors with blue but to
me there's always been something soft and romantic to a true blue color
palette. I think greens and a light hand with off white filler such as
Baby's Breath (perennial please) or Queen Anne's lace with provide
enough contrast.

Delphiniums and Larkspur (both available in luscious shades of blue)
make gorgeous bouquets. They can be fashioned into arm bouquets or wired
into nosegay styles.

Love in a Mist, Scabiosa (hate that name, but it's otherwise known as
Grandmother's Pin Cushion), Statice and Bachelor Buttons (Cornflowers)
are very pretty wild flowers that make a very romantic and airy looking
bouquet when combined with Queen Anne's Lace and fern.

I just picked out my flowers this weekend! I too looked all over the
internet beforehand because I wanted to be prepared. I'd suggest clipping
pictures of the look that you like, bringing in sample colors (I went to the
paint store and got those little samples) and letting your florist make
suggestions. There is so much more out there than I ever found on the
internet! I talked to two Florists and they were just full of suggestions.
They really listened to me and tried to understand the look that I was going
for. Definitely pick someone who gives you that courtesy! Also, the first
person quoted $800 on the high side and the second quoted $2000 for the same
flowers so it pays to shop around!

For flowers with nice stems, I chose calla lilies - they look great wrapped
with ribbon.

Good luck!
