Just wondering....how did you come up with your wedding colors?
I'm having the darndest (sp?) time deciding on the color of the
bridesmaids dress. I'm trying to choose between navy or a pastel color
(pink, yellow, blue????). We have a style picked out, just can't decide
on a color.
I guess part of the problem is I can't decide on flowers either - I'd want
them very different if say I pick a navy dress vs. a buttery yellow one.
Would like to hear how you chose colors. Flowers first? Based on the
ceremony location's decor?
Thanks!

trusts my good taste - gee, thanks for the help....) :)

I picked my bridesmaids dresses first and then picked a color that will
look good on all of my bridesmaids. You may want to take that into
consideration if you pick the buttery color as it is a difficult color
for most people to wear. My color ended up being a slate blue which I am
really excited about because I have decided that my "something blue"
will by my boquet (white and blue) and the bridesmaids will carry pink
boquets.

read: "I'm color blind! I don't know! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" (fiance runs
away screaming)
Another alternative would be navy AND buttery yellow. The combination has
been very popular lately.
Good Luck!
Is it shameful to admit I got my colors from Martha Stewart's most
recent wedding issue?? She showed a really pretty spread with white and
lilac and that's what I went with, although I hope to work in some
silver, too. I got lilac BM dresses and I'm planning on using the lilac
color as an accent in flowers and the favors (jordan almonds in white
lace tied with a lilac ribbon). Of course, lilac is a very "springy
color" and we're getting married in October, but we're going with it
anyway. I think it's going to work out fine.
Inspiration's where you find it.

We didn't even have to think about our colors because there's a tradition
about blue being Ken's color and green being mine.... Most couples I know
who didn't have a pre-set theme or fantasy about color just chose based on
what attendants' dresses they found in colors they liked.
But in your position, I would consider, in the following order:
(1) what will be more flattering and comfortable to your attendants
(2) whether you want a Cinderella look (pastel) or a Grace Kelly look
(navy), or you really want something that's a little of both (a poofy
tulle skirt in navy or a very simple sheath in pink). (Those names aren't
mine, actually...my MOH uses that distinction all the time as shorthand
for the romantic/fluffy/soft style wedding vs. the elegant/chic/hard-edged
style)
(3) what will look best in the setting -- what are the predominant colors
of the ceremony and reception site(s)
(4) whether one or the other color will be easier to find in linens,
favors, accessories, etc. (probably not much of a consideration unless
you were thinking of chartreuse or something)
If you would choose different flowers depending on the color of the
dresses but would be equally happy with either, that doesn't help. But if
you have your heart set on blood-red roses, for example, I'd suggest going
with the navy because it will look better with the flowers you want.
I'm also assuming you don't have any other decor theme that would help you
decide. But if you wanted to focus your decorations, favors, etc. on a
"celestial" theme, navy would obviously work better than pink, whereas if
you wanted "hearts & flowers", pink would be the better choice.

Hi Cindy,
Jung and I both liked navy blue and hunter green, so we looked for those
colors when I went shopping with the BMs for their dresses. The
particular dress that everyone loved didn't come in a nice hunter green,
so we opted for navy blue. Our second color, pale yellow, was chosen
from the flower girl pattern we liked and what color would go well with
the navy and not wash out the girls.
Flowers will end up being more pastel to lighten up the dresses and to
try to tie in all of the colors.
Good luck!

I picked my colors based on my bridesmaids too. My matron of honor is a
red head and then my two bridesmaids are a blonde and a brunette. I
wanted to stay in the green family for my matron of honor and for me -
I'm a red head too. I found the most beautiful teal/jade green that I
think will look good on all of them. It's a good color for summer too.
I'm really happy about it!
