Hi Everyone

I need help deciding on which flowers to have. I am newly
transplanted to TN and have no idea what will be available.

Wedding date is May 13, late afternoon. Wedding colours are
Cream, silver and gold.

I would really, really appreciate some help.

thanks
Sandra

Well, in May almost anything is available. Do you want to stay with
your color scheme or go with a little more color in your flowers? If
you want to stay with the creme, then go with mostly white flowers
(which will be off-white, usually) and some greenery. I would add pale
yellow to add a little color. You really could add any color, for that
matter, since your color palette is so neutral.

Since it is an afternoon wedding, you could go with formal flowers,
elegant, or more of a garden look. You could have many mixed spring
flowers in all pastels or all brights, and they would look great.

Some suggestions:
calla liles (white, very elegant and formal)
roses (romantic -- almost any color)
tulips (spring-like -- many colors)
lilies--Asiatics (white, pink, red/white, etc...)
Gerber Daisies (casual -- garden)
Gladiolas (many colors -- used in arrangements and long bouquets)

It kind of depends on the look you are going for. If you want elegance
and formality, go with roses and lilies in whites, yellows, and peaches
(or all white). If you want a more casual or garden look, go for more
of a variety of flowers, like roses, daisies, carnations, lilies, iris,
etc...) You can have the ribbons be gold and silver to tie it all into
your colors (no pun intended).

I suggest you look through books and pick out what you like, and ask
your florist about the different flowers you find (colors, season, cost,
etc...)

I think what would look best would be a mix of mostly white flowers with
some pastel pinks, peaches, and/or yellows mixed in for a little color.
I would stick to a couple different kinds of flowers with a smaller
flower for filler and some greenery.
You could also most certainly go with a bright color palette (bright
purple, hot pink, bright yellow, bright blue, red), which would mean
different types of flowers mixed together. It does also look nice, but
it depends on what you like and what your personality is.
Deciding what type of bouquet will also limit the types of flowers you
should use. Good Luck.

Are you using a florist or doing your own flowers? All flowers are
basically from the same places (California, South America, and Holland)
so what is in season where you were will most likely be in season in TN,
although the prices may be different.

Flowers like roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums are available all
year as are many other flowers. And May is a great time for flowers like
lillies, so you should have a great selection to choose from.

Just tell your florist what your color scheme and favorite flowers are,
and s/he will be able to help.

You can also browse through http://www.freshroses.com

They have a chart of what flowers are in season by month, with color
pics...

You should be able to get whatever flowers you want, in or out of
season. I asked one florist if I could get tulips in my bouquet (in late
june) and he told me no because they are out of season by then but I
went to another florist who told me I Could have them and she'l order
them from Holland. I think it's all a matter of finding someone willing
to do what you want them to, or perhaps a florist big enough to do the
ordering you need them to. They CAN get you your flowers, but WILL they
is the question. Just find one who will say Yes! :) Hope that helps.

PS
If you don't even know what flowers you really Want, look through
several wedding magazines for ideas, and ask your florist. They can
offer you lots of ideas if you tell them what color. They're good at
that kind of thing.

At this stage you must look for as many pictures as possible. Shapes of
bouquets and types of flowers you love AND those you hate. Gather them all
together along with a colour chart with the colours ticked that you like(DIY
shops usually have such charts) take them with your fabric swatches to your
florist and that will give them an insight into your taste...and they should
be able to reduce the choice available to you and give you a few realistic
options. Happy gathering!

Thank-you all for your suggestions.

We went to a really nice florist and chose Calla lilies for the men, and
roses for the women.

Again

Thanks
