Of course, my non-geeky friend made merciless fun of me for using a computer instead of the old fashioned "book". But hey, this was really easy.
On the Tobit topic, (and because I feel like sharing today :) we couldn't find it anywhere. It was on the list of readings we could pick from, and not in our Bible! How could this be? We sheepishly asked the sales lady in a family bookstore, who graciously explained to us that this is a Catholic thing. Having both grown up Protestant, our bibles wouldn't have it. The online Bible browser finds it though. They even have a couple different versions of the bible to search in.
As for the reading itself, when I first heard it I thought "Perfect!" The more I read it within the context it was written, the less I thought it fit. Anyway, hope that helps.

Tobit is included in the Jerusalem Bible, and yes, Episcopalians
use it. It was our Old Testament reading in our wedding, and it was
wonderful. Our priest even used it as the basis of his sermon during our
wedding.Since my husband and I have known each other for more than 10
years, which is a third of our lives, we've already started to grow old
together!

Thanks everyone for your help.

I am Episcopalian and the minister gave us a list of readings including the Tobit.Like yours, I guess, he told us we *had* to use the New English Bible version of Tobit.Guess what? I can't find that version. In Borders, at other bookstores, or online. I have a New Standard Version and a King James Version at home. i combed the Internet. Couldn't find it. Maybe you should ask your minister if you can borrow his? We just chose other readings.weya wrote in message <6hm8pn$9...@bgtnsc02.worldnet.att.net>...I'm down to the nitty gritty with only 30 days to go until "W-day". So now I'm trying to decide on readings for the ceremony. One of my choices is Tobit 8:5b-8 (That she and I may grow old together). But I don't have a New English Bible so I can look up the full reading to see if I like it. Could someone out there with a New English Bible email me the full selection (Tobit 8:5b-8)? I would really appreciate it.

Blessed are you, O God of our fathers;
praised be your name forever and ever.
Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever.
You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support;
and from these two the human race descended.
You said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; let us make him a partner
like himself.'
Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but
for a noble purpose.
Call down your mercy on me and on her, and allow us to live together to a
happy old age.

> Does the New English version of the Bible even exist??
Yes it exists, but it's been replaced by a newer version called the
Revised New English bible. Large Christian Book stores will probably
have a copy of that. The older NEB is hard to find.
