Operation Period: 5 to 9 August 1967.
After receiving numerous reports from local residents of wounded enemy personnel being secretly transported through outskirt sections of Phu Bai, an Allied reconnaissance team was sent out to obtain more information. The Team discovered a
fully serviceable enemy hospital and support complex, much of it underground. Larger elements of ARVN and US military units were subsequently dispatched to destroy the enemy complex. Code-named "Operation Rush" for its rapid deployment,
this successful operation would be used many times later as a template for eliminating hidden and underground enemy medical and support depots.
