Caption: pleiku ambush 1968

They look like they're standing in a chow line to me. Well, maybe
not; however, if they were being shot at when that was snapped, I'd
say that they were showing incredible indifference. The M-60 in the
foreground isn't even loaded.

The country around Pleiku always reminded me of southwestern Oklahoma.

Maybe the M60 in the background was enough of a deterent.
Never spent much time in OK, I did pass through Pleiku, twice, on some of
the very roads in the photos.

This picture might have been after the ambush was over.

There's a big honkin' *tank* in the background! My point is that
everyone seems pretty disinterested... when anyone is shooting at my
ass, it usually gains my undivided attention.

Maybe... there's a lot of smoke.

Maybe they all just pulled over for a joint? That would also explain
the smoke.

Yup, the tank is an M60. I always liked having at least one nearby.
I act the same as you when shot at, maybe even moreso.
Perhaps the photo is apres ambush, and everyone is having a smoke and
enjoying the afterglow.

"Clank clank", it's a tank; I thought it was a T-34.

Maybe I'm misreading it... it's *our* ambush and they're all waiting
for the enemy to walk into the kill zone.

That's it!

I'd say that was afterwards...the guys ambushed were long gone and the
ones standing around jawing were acting like they were the ones hit

In article <u9dck893mdvukk98p...@4ax.com>, Jones says...
Ambush doesn't fit the picture. They look like they're waiting for 'hots' to
arrive by chopper... or maybe cases of beer...

Pleiku was 4th Infantry Division Territory-Camp Enari!.
I was in the 4th there.
I went to and graduated from Combat NCO school at Camp Enari.
Here's another real story about Camp Enari.
Some "boom-boom" girls were diverting some 4th I.D. guards at the
perimeter at Camp Enari.
Some NVA attempted to come through the wire at this point but were
spotted and stopped before they got through the wire.
"Boom-boom" girls were infamous for doing this sort of "diverting" and
for "spying".
During this same incident, a new Lieutenant straight from Fort
Benning, got so scared at this small enemy action, that he jumped into
a tank, closed the hatches of the same, and hid! I knew this Second
Lieutenant at Fort Benning where he was a Tactical(training) Officer
at OCS . HE was a REAL bully of a tactical officer. However, he turned
out to be a coward!
He was relieved of duty and remove from the field because of his
cowardice!
They had a real nice PX at Camp Enari.
I bought a car there which was waiting for me when I returned to "The
World."

It's also a bus starting at Morningside Heights via Manhattan and
LaGuardia Airport, terminating in Queens.

It's also a high performance mouse used in game boxes.

It's a V8 engine made by BMW.

It's an orange pill containing 60mgs of Morphine... i.e.: "M-60" ...
good stuff!

It's a highway near Dublin.

Moron!
