Made in Vietnam by child labor and peddled by old Winter Soldier
"Investigation" witnesses who have been unemployed since 1972.
Way to put these kids and old lying fools back to work Mr. Kerry!
Will you two men be ordering the John Kerry photo button or the John Kerry
Campaign button? <G>
Bill Clarke
"· Senator Kerry is a cofounder of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars."
I found this but no mention of VVAW or the Winter Soldier bullshit. Wonder
why?
For the first time in years I might get it up for a presidential election this
time around. Might be fun to prick this prick a bit.
Hardly sporting to pick on the likes of Gore or Bush or most of the other
numnuts that have passed by the last decade or more but Kerry's two-faced ass
pisses me off.
Patrick, please send Kerry's site a map of I Corps and how to get there from
the delta.
Bill Clarke
PT,
They (reporters) are on it. See Boston Phoenix's Seth Gitell article below.
Fascinating piece. kerry has been elevating his Vietnam service. The opposition
is gathering ammo, setting up an ambush (hey!); it's all about timing. kerry is
trying to have it his way on Vietnam, but the other edge (Winter Soldier) of
the sword is very sharp. The 2004 election may well boil down to matters of
character and integrity. kerry's in deep shit here.

"But now, unlike 30 years ago, he's (kerry) willing to raise the possibility
that the hawks may have had at least half a point -- and to talk publicly about
Viet Cong wrongdoing. His willingness to discuss the Vietnam era in new terms
suggests that America may be willing to think about that period in a new way as
well. But we won't know that for sure until 2004."

You missed my point, although I have to admit it was so obscure (old,
actually) that I would have been surprised if you picked up on it.

I read his website. While there is mention of his being a founding member
of Vietnam Veterans of America, there's hardly a mention of VVAW. That is
done, I believe, in an article or two.
Kerry does mention why he distanced himself from them, but there isn't a
mention that I can find of the WSI. Not a one.
Doug
Greg, that piece was written in 2001, wasn't it?
I left a question on the Kerry campaign site asking about WSI. I suspect
they'll not answer.
Yes, and it also reveals the depths researcher/reporters delve into
those who seek the nations highest office. Miniscule examination of
every action/word of the candidate. Do they flip-flop? In kerry's case
- yes.
Trying to understand the Vietnam war as a stand alone event is almost
impossible. In the article, the author (and many others, myself
included) put the Vietnam war in the context of the Cold War. It makes
sense. A wide and popular conclusion (held by many and kerry) is
Vietnam was a mistake. This conclusion of kerrys' begs the question -
why risk everything and for what?
kerry is waffling. For one to aspire to the level of commander in
chief with a total misunderstanding of the war he fought in, is to
invite an indecisive "leader" to lead us into another quagmire. Or if
freedom and democracy are challenged, he will waver on the use of the
military (like clinton).
kerry's recent comments "regime change" are deplorable. At a time when
our nation is at war and our soldiers are falling on the battlefield,
kerry selfishly raises his "Vietnam Veteran" card and seeks center
stage. Wrong. Poorly timed. And a candidate who does not understand
the imperatives or the graciousness to step aside in times of war. his
flawed character does not bode well for a future America at war.

We'll take the high road on this. For a while anyway.

I was in Hanoi back when this problem first started (March 04), although
they didn't know it at the time since China wasn't telling anyone.
In Vietnam it's really no big deal. They've only had, I believe, two new
cases since March 24. Most (all?) of their cases come from one person - a
Chinese businessman back when no one knew about this thing.
Needless to say it has slowed down business.
I stopped by last Saturday, but just after you left -- about 3:30pm. I
was with the daughter of LtCmdr Olmstead.
Doug

Dare I ask (again), how has he been elevating his Vietnam service?
Doug
>http://www.johnkerry.com/site/PageServer?pagename=news_2002_0420
Doug,
kerry used his Vietnam service to foil criticism of his recent and ill-timed
remarks, i.e., "regime change". His defense of those remarks are, "I earned the
right to say" blah, blah, blah, because I once went to fight for it.
Well, OK, true. But the classy Nam Vet (to include most here) are quiet about
their service. I think many veterans understand their service was an honor,
privilege and duty. Guys like John McCain and Colin Powell are introduced (by
others) as veterans, former POW, etc. McCain and Powell nod in quiet
acknowledgement. kerry is promoting his service like a cheap advertisement.
All this coming from someone who testified to the Senate about GI atrocities in
a mistaken war. kerry capitalized on anti-war sentiment in the early 70s and is
trying to capitalize on the pro-war sentiment of today. Whichever way the wind
is blowing and flip-flop; the small calculations of a self-promoting,
everything is for sale political ladder climber.
Those who fought for it remember the sacrifice and the solemn humility that
goes with it. kerry remembers himself. He trampled on our honorable service
for political gain back then and is now attempting to advance his position with
the same service. Hypocrite, two-faced, and untrustworthy.
Last Fall, in an interiew, kerry stated his Vietnam service a dozen times
(elevation). As a rationale, defense, basis, or authority, his shameless
self-promotion, again, detracts from our honorable service.
Best Regards
Greg
I beg your pardon. I certainly can.
Doug
Doug, Kerry has been banging on it like a gong, using it to give himself
some kind of credibility in foreign affairs. The man who threw medals over
the fence at the Capitol steps has taken to wearing his patch-strewn bomber
jacket full time.
His nickname in Massachusetts is John "Liveshot" Kerry, for his quest to be
in as many live TV broadcasts as possible.

In today's Boston Herald "Region in Brief" section, Kerry *again* tries to
use his Vietnam service as a crutch against his own stupidity.
Quoting....
Kerry: "Regime" comment was said in jest
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry says his controversial wartime
comment saying the United States, like Iraq, needs a "regime change" was
intended as a light-hearted remark.
"It was not about the president, and it was not about the war. It was
about the election," Kerry said during a campaign stop in Alabama.
"When I fought in Vietnam and fought for my country, I didn't give up
the right to make quips and to participate in the debate," he added.
-30-
There is a standing joke up here that Kerry never lets a chance pass by to
be on live TV or to say he was in Vietnam. Looks like now he's trying to
cry victim like Robbins and Sarandon.
Thanks for that tidbit, Lee.
I take it Kerry also continues to let every chance pass by to say anything
about VVAW, Dewey Canyon III and the Winter Soldier “Investigation”.
Reckon that sum bitch is nervous waiting for the other shoe to hit the
floor?
It’d be my guess that some of his opponents are just waiting for the right
time. And if Kerry keeps yapping about his Vietnam service all the time he
will soon turn off many veterans that know nothing of the Winter Soldier
“Investigation” as well as most civilians.
For the first time I’m beginning to have some hope that the back stabbing
bastard won’t make it. He just might shoot his own self in the foot.

I sincerely hope so. By the way, the only worse idiot in the running is
Dean(?) from Vermont. He actually believe his own shit.

I hope when he pulls the trigger on his foot, it's with an RPG.

I enjoy a little bullshit; do a bit of it myself. But there is nothing more
pathetic than a bullshiter that starts believing his own bullshit. When
that happens you lose all credibility as a bullshiter.

Hot damn Lee! Didn’t know you could be that mean. <G>
The sum bitch is pretty tall. Think he could put the rocket on his big toe
and look down the other end of the RPG before he pulls the trigger?
Bill Clarke, who knew he could be that mean. With people I don’t like
anyway.
