I'm remembering a picture I saw in my 8th grade American History textbook.
It was a painting with a Northern gentleman in a top hat peering at a
Southern farmer with a (presumably) slave standing in the middle who I
believe was ripping at a map or a piece of paper. Does anyone know what
painting I am talking abount and if so, who is it by and/or the name of it?

Thanks,
-mike

I first used "painting" instead of "cartoon", but on my second try I used the
following search string to find your "painting" on Google:

cartoon +farmer +gentleman +slave

The Google search engine is a very useful thing:

I've done this thing before, and I've never received a "thank You" on either
SOC or AWCUSA. Whadda ya bet I get one this time?

I'm actually very appreciative for the help you've provided. That is
definitely the shot I was looking for and I do thank you for your help.

Thanks. I thought I was replying to a SOC mesage. If so, this begging posting
would never have appeared.

Google is my search engine of choice of the many available. Besides the Web, you
can search for Images, Groups, Directory, and News. With flexibilty and a
little imagination, I've found I can locate most any of my interests on the 'net
in a matter of minutes.
