Hi there,

Posting on behalf of a friend who is to take a driver's license test
very soon. He has a new passport issued by the consulate of his country
in the US. However, the visa was on the old passport which has been
lost recently. Since he never travelled abroad with the new passport,
there are no departure/entry informations on it. Can he still take the
test with the new passport and his student ID, for instance ?

Thank you in advance for any information.

It depends on the state where he tries to get it. In California, it
may be particularly difficult because DMV is supposed to verify the
immigration status. He would have to get a replacement I-94.

Most other states, it would probably not be a problem.
