Job Summary:
The VMWare Desktop Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions using VMWare technology. They work closely with other members of the IT team, including system administrators and network engineers, to ensure that VDI solutions meet the organization's needs. The VMWare Desktop Engineer also provides technical support and troubleshooting for VDI issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions using VMWare Horizon View
Configure VMWare Horizon View components, including connection servers, security servers, and virtual desktops
Ensure the performance, reliability, and security of VDI solutions
Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and diagrams, for VDI solutions
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for VDI issues
Collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement VDI-related projects
Stay up-to-date with the latest VMWare technologies and best practices
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining VDI solutions using VMWare technology
Strong knowledge of VMWare Horizon View components and architecture
Experience with VMWare vSphere and ESXi
Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Active Directory
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certification
Experience with other VDI solutions, such as Citrix XenDesktop or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
Knowledge of network protocols and security principles related to VDI solutions
Experience with PowerShell scripting for VDI automation
Experience with cloud-based VDI solutions
