What are some of the best/least expensive mpeg/DVB FTA receivers that
you would reccomend to use for Dish Network? Can you use your Dish
Network dishes/lnbs/switches with these receivers?Where are some of
the best places to buy a FTA receiver? Any and all help would be
greatly appreciated!!!Thanks,Mike

I think your asking to get the FTA off of dishnetwork satellites with a
dishnetwork dish.

There are only a few channels that are FTA on Dishnetwork satellites.
Know what channel your after and know that they could be gone next time
you want to watch it.

Well yes , some with problems
Yes -If you have the dish 300 single or dual lnb

Yes - If you have the dish 500 with 2 single or 2 dual lnb's (you would
only use one or the other) OR if you use a directv multisat 22khz
multiswitch you can switch sats/pol.

Yes -If you have a Twin or Quad and then the problem of switching
sats/polarity pops its ugly head up.(you never know where you at)

i just got a fortecstar 786na.
for c-band i use the single-s lnb setting.
for ku-band i use the wide setting.
it is very good for searching out the signals.
i get all the music on nimiq and echo7.
i can also get the fta networks on echo 1,2.
i have an old 10ft unimesh, 25*cband lnb, 0.7*ku-band lnb, corotor2(not
plus)feedhorn, and no teflon or dielectric fix, for circular polarity.
u must adjust your skew almost 45* off base hor-vert to get the stongest
signal.
the most important thing is to make sure everything on the dish is
aligned properly.

Using any decent MPEG2 FTA receiver (I use the Pansat 300A) and using
a Direct TV or Dish Network reflector/lnb combination you can receive the
music channels from any Dish Network satellite AND the Nimiq satellite.
You also can receive the obnoxius Dish Network promo and "how to for
idiots" FTA transmission telling users how to use their receivers and
remote controls. Also 24/7 FTA reception on Dish Network are one or more
religious broadcasters such as the Angel Network if that's your idea of
fun reception. Additionally, sometimes Dish Network and Nimiq uplinkers
screw up and a subscription service will pop in FTA. This lasts until
the uplinker realizes the mistake. I have never had this happen on
Direct TV.
