If you have Comcast's (prsumably digital) cable box you'll be ok.
- Character
depends where you live, and if you have a comcast box.. in some areas
comcast has channels below 100 so you can still use the rf in without the
box, but above 100 the tuner won't work, but if you video in for input
instead of rf, all channels 2-999 should work fine, and some comcast boxes
can even be controlled by the ir blaster so the tivo can control the box
What device other than a comcast box can I use to rf in and video out
my raw comcast cable----in order to tivo the unscrambled cable
channels above 100, that my HD tv tuner will not show me??

umm above 100, comcast box, below 100 most any digital converter box
both will do both rf and/or video out....
i have several series 2's with comcast, some record directly the lower
channels (below 100), and one uses an ir blaster/controls a comcast box so i
can record stuff on the premium channels (HBO, Starz, Showtime etc) and a
few HD dvr's to record high def stuff i want
point is rf can be analog or digital, but using video (s video, composite,
component) doesn't use rf at all, and the tivos will use video instead of
rf, so why use rf?
even the (free, convert analog to digital) digital converter boxes have
video out, and vcr's/dvd players/game all have video out....
if you use the video out from the comcast box, it will work just fine/no
need for a new dvr, if however you want to use rf instead, your tivo will
become a doorstop
ps, got a walmart nearby? they sell the cables you need for a buck or so,
best buy/radio shack/target - for a few bucks.....
odd thing is, you still haven't mentioned where you are... here in the
baltimore area, comcast has channels under 100 (digital QUALITY) no box
neeeded - works with older tv's and tivos... actual digital over 100 needs
box.. however at my uncles in tampa, all comcast channels are digital
only/needs a box
