For the time being I haven't specified an alternate source for the
program guide information. Is that necessary, since for now I just want
to get the program to work with the existing guide information.
When I click on the ToDo list I get nothing that appears to be a ToDo
list. The screen remains the same as it was previously. I realize I
must be doing something wrong in the setup. However, whatever
information I find on WIRNS is relatively incomprehensible to me. I
could argue that as an old fart (72) technology is just too hard for me,
but I have used computers since the 1950s. However, anything to do with
networking is not my forte.
Can anyone give me a simple suggestion as to what needs be done, or at
least a pointer to somewhere I might find that information?
Thanks.

Have you got the WiRNS interface visible? You go to your web browser and
enter the IP address of the computer running WiRNS ('localhost' if
you're at the same computer). Your browser should then be showing some
information.
Note that on your Replay(s), the program provider names need to start
with "WiRNS:".

It is not. I did not use an alternate source when I first set up WiRNS.
It makes sense to me to try it a little at a time, so no alternate guide
source until I got WiRNS to work.

How can it be the same, when you got a ToDo list?

WiRNS definately could use better documentation. There is a little
built-in. When you see a blue '?', you can move the mouse pointer over
it for information (not much, but some).

There's some information on the 'Planet Reply' forum. Follow the link on
the WiRNS info screen.
