RAVAGERS
Directed by Richard Compton in 1979
Starring Richard Harris, Art Carney, Anthony James, Ann Turkel, Woody
Strode and Ernest Borgnine
Richard Harris stars as Falk in this excellent post apocalyptic tale
set in the not too distant future. Falk travels through the wastelands
seeking some sort of meaning in his life, looking for some sort of
hope, but after his love Miriam is killed he desires only to be left
alone. Unfortunately, for a loner, he's pretty down on his luck! It
seems that wherever he goes people want to follow him... and kill him.
Most of all, the Ravagers, a roaming group of nihilistic murderers that
want him more than anyone! It doesn't help that Falk killed the Ravager
gang leader's favorite boy toy! Along the way, Falk picks up Sergeant
(Art Carney) (who mistakes him as his Major) and Faina (Humanoids From
The Deep's Ann Turkel), a beautiful woman who sees more in Falk than he
sees in himself. With the Ravagers closing in, Falk may find the
salvation he is looking for when he runs into Brown (Woody Strode) and
Rann (Ernest Borgnine). They seem to have some sort of plan aboard
their giant tanker ship. With religious overtones and desolate locales,
Ravagers turns one man's sorrowful journey into a powerful cautionary
tale and a rousing epic adventure! You can now enjoy Ravagers uncut in
English language with Japanese subtitles.
THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA
Directed by Antonio Margheriti in 1982 and starring David Warbeck,
Antonella Interlenghi (as Almanta Suska), Luciano Pigozzi (as Alan
Collins) and John Steiner.
Antonio Margheriti gets in on the Indiana Jones action, throws in a
dash of 007, and mixes it up Italian Jungle style! Warbeck plays Bob
Jackson, adventurer extraordinaire with a penchant for danger! After
World War II, Jackson and Special British Intelligence Officer Captain
David Bracken (John Steiner doing David Niven to the hilt!) head back
into enemy territory to recover the stolen Golden Cobra, believed to
have supernatural powers and possibly the key to a hidden treasure!
Along the way, hundreds of secret Golden Cobra worshippers try and
assassinate them, but its nothing compared to the danger that's in
store! Luciano Pigozzi brings his hidden agenda along for the ride
while posing as an anthropologist. His niece Julie (Fulci favorite
Almanta Suska) is the twin sister of long lost April, the beautiful
goddess of the Golden Cobra! Sound crazy? Well, it is! Lots of
violence, action and mayhem ensue. Throw in the active volcano and
excitable natives and you've got yourself a pasta bowl full of big
entertainment! Even with all of that, we also get an amusing score by
gialli and Italian Crime composer Carlo Savina and a dash of make up
effects from Cataldo (Cannibal Holocaust) Galliano! This fast paced and
fun adventure film can now be enjoyed totally uncut, widescreen, and in
English language with Japanese subtitles.
GANG WAR IN NAPLES
Directed by Pasquale Squitieri in 1972 & starring Fabio Testi, Germana
Carnacina and Raymond Pellegrin.
Another unsung hero of the Italian crime genre, director Pasquale
Squitieri knows what it takes to deliver a masterpiece. This one is
very similar, in many ways, to a movie he would make three years later
entitled L'Ambizioso (The Climber) and though that is a more
well-known film, we think this is the better movie of the two. Here,
Fabio Testi is Tonino, a man just out from a two-year turn in jail. He
isn't free more than a few days before trouble finds him again and he
is forced into a knife fight with the same person that caused him to
end up incarcerated in the first place! Crime lord Capesce witnesses
the cunning and intelligence Tonino uses to win the fight and decides
to hire him as a truck driver. As more opportunities come his way,
Tonino dedicates himself to rising to the top; his family and fiancée
have trouble with this but there is nothing they can do as they are
left further and further behind. Tonino's father warns that someday,
probably in the near future, his son will be approached with an offer
for bigger things and a chance to leave his mark... via a pistol and a
name. Indeed, this comes to pass but it doesn't stop there! Power
changes hands, betrayal is everywhere, surprises come swiftly, and
before it's all over there will be a bloody and unstoppable Gang War
In Naples! Definitely able to hold its own against the films of Lenzi
or Di Leo, this very highly recommended movie is available to you now
both uncut and in English language with Greek subtitles.
THE LEFT HAND OF THE LAW
Directed by Giuseppe Rosati in 1975 & starring Leonard Mann, Antonella
Murgia, James Mason, Franco Interlenghi, Stephen Boyd, Enrico Maria
Salerno, Andrea Scotti & Janet Agren.
Leonard Mann is Inspector Murri, a very complex man is many ways and
definitely an anti-hero. This man, though passionate about what he
believes in, is very clearly flawed. You get mad at him, you root for
him, and you identify with him. There is one aspect of his life in
which he is extremely forthright and successful... his career as an
officer. He's the captain of a special crime squad made up of highly
skilled individuals trained for nearly every eventuality. Two of these
men are caught off guard during an unexpected kidnapping by a group of
machine-gun wielding extremists and are killed in the midst of the
ensuing car chase. This event sends the special squad into action in a
huge way. Murri becomes a driven man, constantly risking his life as he
pursues the truth; a truth that reaches higher than he could have
imagined and counting on assistance from is not something that's
found to be as dependable as it should be. When the blood of the
innocent begins to run in the streets Murri changes into an ice-cold,
steely, walking incarnation of vengeance! Unstoppable and single of
purpose, he will find the truth... no matter what the cost! And you can
be sure that in the end the price paid will be great! This masterpiece
should be considered required viewing for Italian crime fans. Mann's
performance is absolutely outstanding in a film that is able to be
suspenseful, inspiring, intense, surprising, violent, moving, and damn
exciting all at the same time. I sincerely hope that some sort of
soundtrack release is planned for the future because Paolo Vasile's
musical contributions to this film are nothing short of outstanding.
Make-up is credited to Giuseppe Ferranti. A personal favorite, it's
with great pride that we present The Left Hand of the Law to you uncut,
in the widescreen format and in English language with Dutch subtitles.
FEARLESS FUZZ - aka POLIZIOTTO SENZA PAURA - FEARLESS - MAGNUM
COP
Directed by Stelvio Massi in 1977 & starring Maurizio Merli, Gastone
Moschin, Massimo Vanni, Andrea Scotti and Joan Collins
Excellent Italian crime from director Stelvio Massi featuring an
opening introduction that can help remind you why you fell in love with
these things in the first place! Merli is 'The Fox', a down and out
private detective (and ex-cop) who seems to always live with just a
little more trouble than he can handle. While in Vienna, 'The Fox'
is moved by the pleas of a distraught Italian woman claiming her
daughter's death was not the accident public authorities would like
everyone to believe it is. As you might suspect, Merli's character
finds much more than he bargained for but meets the challenges the way
only he can! With tightened fist and loaded gun! This is a wild and
unpredictable hybrid of a movie that encompasses two very different
moods. At first, beyond the stylish and violent slow-motion opening,
the tone is light and there are several comedic situations, all of
which are very amusing. After the mystery begins to unfold, though,
things take a much more serious turn. The subject matter becomes darker
as the movie plays on... kidnapping, blackmail/extortion, under aged
schoolgirl prostitution (forced), and before long these events lead to
violent murder. Stelvio Cipriani comes through in his ever-impressive
musical way with yet another outstanding and atmospheric soundtrack.
Massi's direction comes across as very assured and clear of purpose
throughout. Nice cinematography courtesy of Riccardo Pallottini ties
everything together in just the right way. Neglected for reasons we
can't begin to fathom around here, this film is now available to you
uncut and widescreen in English language with Dutch subtitles.
ESCAPE FROM GALAXY 3
Directed by Bitto Albertini in 1981 & starring Sherry Buchanan, Milt
Jamin and Don Powell
All right everybody, hold on tight for this one because it's nothing
short of amazing! This was released in some parts of Europe as
Starcrash II due to the excessive reworking of footage from that film
as well as the naming of the female lead in this as Belle Star (perhaps
the long lost sister of Stella Star). Escape From Galaxy 3 does still
manage to carve out its own place in so-bad-it's-frickin-brilliant
cinema history! From the top then... Belle and Lithan are two immortals
from a distant star whose world is threatened by an angry tall dude in
a cracked-out blue/silver/pink ensemble barfed right out of the worst
disco nightmares. This outfit comes complete with an over-starched
beanie/hat thing, copious amounts of eye makeup, and an abundance of
beard glitter! Anyway, our heroic couple must escape from their evil
nemesis and find a way to destroy him before it's too late! They
don't have much time as Oraclon (the bad disco-man's name) is power
mad and longs to rule the entire universe! Belle and Lithan find
themselves stranded on a primitive planet far removed from anything
they have ever known... and now it gets strange. From here on out this
movie turns into a cross between Starcrash, The Blue Lagoon,
Barbarella, and any number of sexploitation softies. There is so much
more but words just can't do it justice. After discovering the
physical pleasures the body is capable of, our pretty heroine indulges
nearly every chance she gets so there are plenty of 'happy
feelings' in store for fans of Miss Buchanan. All that's left for
everybody else is a warning: Be careful, you might just laugh yourself
into the next galaxy! Enjoy Escape From Galaxy 3 uncut, in the
widescreen format and in English language with no subtitles.
