MURDER IN PARIS Also Known As CASA D'APPUNTAMENTO - THE BOGEYMAN AND
THE FRENCH MURDERS - THE PARIS SEX MURDERS Directed by Ferdinando
Merighi in 1972 andstarring Robert Sacchi, Anita Ekberg, Rosalba Neri,
Howard Vernon, Barbara Bouchet, Pietro Martellanza (credited as Peter
Martell), Eva Astor and Alessandro Perrella
One of the most misogynistic and eccentric giallo films out there!
Here's one for the fans with a great cast, lots of sleaze,
decapitations, some eye gouging, beautiful women, mystery men in robes,
a mad scientist, and a whole lot more! A local thug burglarizes a
jewelry store and tries to buy out his favorite call girl (Barbara
Bouchet) at Anita Ekberg's brothel. Nothing goes as planned and she's
found murdered! He's blamed for the death and sentenced to die via the
guillotine only to escape and end up beheaded anyway while making his
getaway on a motorcycle! When the bodies continue to pile up inspector
Robert Sacchi (Humphrey Bogart look-alike) takes the case! There are
about as many red herrings as there is gore; mix that together with the
rest of the mayhem and you get Murder In Paris! Ekberg's female
employees and their johns all seem to have their own individual
self-serving agendas while the local scientist (Howard Vernon of
course!) and his assistant spend their time dissecting the thief's
heads for psychological clues! Meanwhile, our mysterious gloved killer
manages to take each suspect out in gruesome ways including a great
triple kill that features some of Carlo Rambaldi's excellent FX work!
This is an insane gialli featuring fast paced editing by Bruno Mattei
and an excellent soundtrack by Bruno Nicolai! We're proud to bring you
this incredibly bizarre and rare giallo completely uncut and in English
language with no subtitles.
KILLER COP Also Known As LA POLIZIA HA LE MANI LEGATE - PORTRAIT OF A
60% PERFECT MAN - THE POLICE CAN'T MOVE Directed by Luciano Ercoli in
1974 and starring Claudio Cassinelli, Arthur Kennedy, Sara Sperati,
Bruno Zanin, Franco Fabrizi, Francesco D'Adda and Giovanni Cianfriglia
Cassinelli is Commissioner Matteo Rolandi, Killer Cop! While on a
routine narcotics detail in a high-class motel, a bomb explodes killing
several delegates and important politicians that were attending a
summit. Seen as an act of terrorism perpetrated by rebels, the
officials put Judge Arthur Kennedy on the case since he has no known
political leanings. When Matteo's best friend and fellow officer gets a
lead on the bomber, and is killed for it, our hero goes into Killer Cop
mode... even after being told to stay off the case. Despite the
warnings from officials (Not to mention the witnesses being killed one
by one!) Matteo seems to stay one step ahead of everyone else, that is,
until he gets too close to the truth! Corruption, assassinations, and
deadly killers seem to be in every aspect of the case not to mention
several plot twists, secret agendas and double agents playing both
sides! This is one very cynical Italian crime thriller that should not
be missed by aficionados of the genre. Luciano Ercoli's pessimistic
direction, along with Stelvio Cipriani's incredible soundtrack, help
create a very dark and sinister atmosphere with a powerful message
about the mixing of crime, power, and politics. We are proud to bring
you this downbeat and impressive Italian thriller fully uncut,
widescreen, and in English language with no subtitles.
SO SWEET, SO DEAD - Also Known As RIVELAZIONI DI UN MANIACO SESSUALE
AL CAPO DELLA SQUADRA MOBILE - REVELATIONS OF A SEX MANIAC TO THE
HEAD OF THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION - THE SLASHER Directed
by Roberto Montero in 1972 and starring Farley Granger, Sylva Koscina,
Krista Nell, Femi Benussi, Luciano Rossi, Nieves Navarro (credited as
Susan Scott), Christea Avram (credited as Chris Avram), Silvano
Tranquilli and Annabella Incontrera
As amazing a cast as that is it's important to point out that there
are even more recognizable faces throughout. More than we had room to
list! Some consider this the ultimate giallo; the pinnacle of the genre
that achieves its perfection with calculated finesse and effortless
perfection beyond a fault. Others consider it reprehensible; cynical
trash that's nihilistic and cruel with no redeeming values
whatsoever. Around here we tend to lean decidedly toward the former
rather than the latter. A murderer has taken up the position of moral
redeemer and begins to violently murder the unfaithful wives of the
local jet set leaving behind only bloody bodies and photographs of the
victims caught in the throes of adulterous passion. Inspector Capuana
is the man in charge of the investigation. As the murders continue and
the frustration of not being able to 'step on too many toes' builds
inside, Capuana finds himself obsessed with the details of the case.
There is relentless tension and no lack of suspenseful thrills all
designed to drive you effortlessly towards the absolutely fantastic
climax that's awash in powerful and shocking revelation. So Sweet, So
Dead is, as far as we're concerned, best thought of as must-see
viewing for gialli fans! An exceptional movie showcasing everything
that is great about the giallo. The shadow-like stranger clinging to
the darkness until it's time to strike, the flashing of the blade,
the impressive and stylish murders, the frequent nudity, the dreamlike
and hypnotic soundtrack (courtesy of Giorgio Gaslini), the abundant
atmosphere, the serpentine turns of the final moments ... and on and on
and on! We can think of not a single negative thing to say about this
classic! So Sweet, So Dead comes with our highest of recommendations
and you can now enjoy this rarity uncut (most other prints are very
cut), letterboxed (some prints are only slightly widescreen), and in
English language with Japanese subtitles.
MASTER OF THE WORLD - Also Known As I PADRONI DEL MONDO - CONQUEROR
OF THE WORLD
Directed by Alberto Cavallone in 1981 and starring Sven Kruger, Sasha
D'Arc, Viviana Maria Rispoli and Maria Vittoria Garlanda
Hundreds of thousands of years ago man was forced to fight for
everything he had and desired to keep. Food, a place to live, women, or
just simply surviving another day, it all had to be earned. In the
midst of the dawn of man we meet Bok, a man who is simply trying to
find the place where he belongs. After nearly dying due to some
severely infected injuries a young girl from a less advanced tribe
stays with him to nurse him back to health. They bond and begin to
travel together across the mountains and plains. Again and again they
meet up with vicious foes that would like nothing better than to
decapitate our heroes! Soon the two travelers become three and a
different kind of attraction between Bok and his new companion begins
to manifest. Lots of problems and obstacles are left as Bok and his
friends look for a home, a people, a purpose, and if the chance
presents itself, revenge. Master of the World is a surprisingly good
movie. Beautiful locations and cinematography are necessary successes
for a movie such as this and both are achieved. Aside from the
impressive look is the tangible sense of desperation, the electronic
soundtrack is very cool and the graphic effects you'll see peppered
throughout the running time (designed by Rosario Prestopino) are damn
convincing! Those fake heads are some of the best we have seen around
here in a long time! The bear-fighting scenes are also worth
mentioning. Terrific entertainment is abundant to be sure! Now you can
enjoy this very rare movie totally uncut and in the widescreen format!
The only dialogue in Master of the World is the narration that opens
the film and it's presented in English with Japanese subtitles, other
than the introduction there is no discernable dialogue or subtitling
present.
WEAPONS OF DEATH - Also Known As NAPOLI SPARA Directed by Mario
Caiano in 1977 and Starring Leonard Mann, Henry Silva, Massimo Vanni,
Ida Galli (as Evelyn Stewart) and Massimo Deda
Here comes one of the most sought after and highly regarded movies in
all of Italian crime cinema... Weapons of Death! Just about everybody
who manages to see it becomes a loyal fan and many feel that it's the
summation of everything great about the genre! Leonard Mann is a cop
trying to do the best job he can in the city of Naples, but it's
never easy, especially with high profile criminals like Henry Silva
around! Silva manages to anger everybody from the local law enforcement
all the way to his fellow underworld crime kingpins. Driven by blinding
greed Silva is only getting started when he puts together a plan to rob
a money train in broad daylight while it's still full of passengers!
He wants to go as far as he can and with as much as he can carry! No
life has enough value to slow him down! There is no remorse in this
seemingly soulless shell of a man who will destroy anyone who attempts
to deter him! Mann, as tough a customer as he always was, is not about
to just sit by and watch the criminals take over the streets, not by a
long shot. This has got to be the single most violent Italian crime
film of the seventies! Bloody shootings, beatings, face smashing,
burnings, castration, and a decapitation are among the acts of
malicious interpersonal destruction you'll find throughout! The best
thing about all of this is that Weapons of Death has the ability to
back it up with something that matters! Aside from the strength of the
writing (not to mention the performances - Mann shines as usual), the
excellent cinematography and editing come together with effortless
fluidity to capture the cityscapes of Napoli in all their beauty thanks
to the talents of Pier Luigi Santi and Vincenzo Tomassi respectively. A
soundtrack that must rank amongst the finest courtesy of the great
Francesco De Masi is a memorably affecting gift to all of us and the
aforementioned graphic goings-on are the handiwork of none other than
Gino De Rossi himself! A truly impressive movie that's everything
you've heard it is and more. As rare and elusive as Mario Caiano's
achievement has proven to be over the years, it is with great pride and
pleasure that we offer Weapons of Death to you now fully uncut,
presented in widescreen, and in English language with Dutch subtitles.
MAN HUNT - Also Known As CANE ARRABBIATO - MAD DOG - THE MANHUNT
Directed by Fabrizio De Angelis (credited as Larry Ludman) in 1985 and
starring John Ethan Wayne, Ernest Borgnine, Henry Silva and Bo Svenson
De Angelis is at it again with this mid-eighties prison break film!
What sets this one apart from all the rest is its Western-styled themes
as Ethan (son of John) Wayne gets set up on false horse rustling
charges by ranch owner Ernest Borgnine. Sentenced to prison, Wayne
meets psycho warden Henry Silva who finds pleasure in watching his
prisoners race back from work detail while being chased by his rabid
guard dogs! Wayne takes this as an opportunity to get himself into
shape in order to escape and run across the Arizona desert!
Unfortunately, once he gets back into town, Sheriff Bo Svenson catches
him and sends him back! The second time appears to be the charm as
Wayne steals a bus and sets out to prove his innocence with the help of
Borgnine, who has a sudden change of heart, and a fellow inmate out on
parole. Now it's a showdown between Silva and Wayne! Francesco De
Masi provides an excellent Italian Western style score and De Angelis'
eye-of-the-desert scenery really supplies an excellent backdrop to suit
the son of The Duke! Forget all those cut (by a full 8 minutes!) and
fullscreen domestic prints. We're proud to bring you this title in its
original widescreen format, uncut and in English with Japanese
subtitles.
