I have a Pioneer LD-S2, which I'm pretty happy with. Recently, I
bought a Faroudja NRS scaler with an output of 720p, which works for
my TV. I'm *stunned* at the quality of the image when viewing with
component (YPrPb) inputs into my HDTV. However, there is a small
problem that I want to correct. When the NRS is in letterbox mode, it
blows up the picture of my LDs WAY too much, with the left and right
sides of the movie frame noticeably clipped off. In order to see the
entire picture, I have to put the NRS in 4:3 mode, which for
letterboxed movies, windowboxes them (black all around the movie frame
-- top and bottom, left and right), which is a bit annoying.
I was wondering if any of you knew of an electronic gadget that I
could put in between my LD-S2 and my NRS that would SHRINK the video
down proportionally in the horizontal and vertical axes, such that
when the NRS is in letterbox mode, that I see the entire frame (ie. no
clipping of the picture). I don't want the gadget to do any video
processing of the image other than the ability to scale it
horizontally and vertically (hopefully in proportion to one another).
Composite in and composite out (both 480i) would be ideal.
TIA!
