i just got a used copy of the 'clerks' laserdisc. i skimmed through it
and noticed a lot of what i suppose is speckling (white pixles flashing
all over the screen). my question is is this the beginning of laser rot?
has anyone else had this disc rot on them? i've never had a disc rot
before so i don't know what it's like. anyone who has any info, it would
be greatly appreciated.

My Clerks is just fine, but its possible that what you're seeing is just
the film itself. It was shot in 16 mm and that adds to the grain. There are
also some really bad film burns in some of the close-ups. If the speckles
are on the black part of the letterboxing, then its probably LD rot,
however, I haven't had any problems, with mine, and the film was grainy to
begin with.

If it's white speckles (not color) it's unlikely to be rot.
White speckles most often indicates inclusions.

The film was shot on a very small budget, and that is just how the film
looks...it's normal.

Look who makes the disc and there lies your answer.
