year. If you want the results posted to you, just email me and ask.

Now on with the show...

I have included some info on PAL LD releases. If anyone knows any more,
with release dates if poss. please let me know.

Thanks to Paul Rhodes for the BBC Video releases info.
Thanks also to Keith Myles for some other new release info [%]

Keith says :
"To coincide with the March 25th release of Tooms, Fox are launching a limited
number of gimmicky boxes to keep the four X-files "movies" in.

The official X-Files Forensic Evidence Boxes are designed to "look like a
container that would be found at the scene of an FBI investigation". The box
costs 13.99ukp and comes with a 40 minute documentary "The Secrets of the
X-Files" which scrutinises both the plot and characters of the series."

Thanks also to Mike Broadhurst for release dates for
Star Trek : Deep Space 9 & Voyager, Babylon 5, and The X-Files.
Mike says :

"'The X-Files - The Unopened File' has become a major sell-out all over the UK
in it's first week of release.

The tape was released at #14.99. Also, on the same day, FOX Video
released rental versions of the following X-Files videos.

File 1 : The Unopened File
File 2 : Tooms
File X : The Secrets of the X-Files

Check your local video rental store for these tapes.

Future sell-through X-Files tapes include:

File 2 : Tooms - released 25th March
File X : The Secrets of the X-Files in a collector's box - released March 25th
File 3 : Abduction - released 3rd June
File 4 : Colony - released 5th August"

The RENTAL chart !!
-------------------
10 NEW ENTRY : The Prophecy (18)

9 (7) FALLER : X-Files : Secrets (12)

8 (6) FALLER : X-Files : The Unopened File (12)
(Also available for buy for UKP 14.99)

Fox are releasing 4 special edition full length X-Files "movies" available
for a limited period only. The first one is:

Cat number: 8911S
Contains:
Anasazi (Season 2 Cliffhanger)
Blessing Way (Season 3 #1)
Paper Clip (Season 3 #2)

7 (4) FALLER : Judge Dredd (15, Guild)

Stallone stars in Danny Cannon's (Young Americans) film of the comic book
character. The plot is very simple. Stallone wrongly arrests Rob Schnider
(Saturday Night Live, Demolition Man) and is then framed for murder. Both
are sent to priz for a long long time, but after a breakout, and a number
of chase scenes later, Stallone is granted a pardon at the expense of Max Von
Sydow who has to resign from his position of one of the Presidents of the
World (or something) and walk out into the Cursed Earth (ie. soon he's going
to die). Turns out Stallone was framed for murder by his brother Rico (Armand
Assante) who's set up a production plant to clone bad guys to take over the
world (who said "Demolition Man" ?)

The chase sequence on the hover bikes is one of the film's best scenes,
and apparently the sound on the film has to be heard to be believed, but the
film itself is a letdown, and this pan-and-scan release will play havoc
with most of the film, especially the fantastic sets.

A widescreen release is tipped for Autumn 96. For now....

Dominator's rating : 5/10

6 NEW ENTRY : Kiss of Death (18)

Updated remake with David Caruso, Samuel L Jackson and Nicolas Cage.

5 (5) NON-MOVER : Jack And Sarah (15, Polygram)

Richard E. Grant as Jack, a new father, whose wife died in childbirth
exclaims "This isn't so difficult" as he tries to cope, and gets a new
nanny in the form of Samantha Mathis (Pump Up The Volume). Haven't seen
this yet, but clips I saw on Film 95 were in 2.35:1, and seeing fullscreen
clips of this on TV now indicate that it was shot in Super-35, so you'll lose
a little from the side, and get more top and bottom. Hurrah! :)

Incidentally, Richard E. Grant's most talked about film (probably), the
excellent "Withnail & I" is getting a re-release in cinemas soon to mark
its 10th anniversary. I'd recommend that one very much.
It also stars the new Doctor Who, Paul McGann, and Richard Griffiths (BBC1's
Pie in the Sky)

4 NEW ENTRY : Free Willy 2 (U, Warner)

Fill that gap in your life with another free willy (oo-er!)

3 (3) NON-MOVER : First Knight (PG, Columbia TriStar)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details).

Sean Connery, Richard Gere and Julia Ormond in a film where knights were
Bold, and so was their washing powder.
Can you tell I've not seen this film? :)

2 (2) NON-MOVER : Bad Boys (18, Columbia TriStar)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details).

I haven't seen this one yet, but it has Martin Lawrence and Will Smith (aka
the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) as a couple of cops. Lots of action, lots of
bad language, and lots of excellent surround sound are surely the main elements
of this film.

1 (1) NON-MOVER : Congo (12, CIC)

Jurassic Park with gorillas, probably. Haven't seen it but it's another
Michael Crichton book now on film, starring Tim Curry, and featuring excellent
surround sound apparently.

The RETAIL Chart :
------------------
There's nothing decent released this week, so everything stays in the
same position as last week.

This week : 9 new entries, 0 going up, 0 staying still, leaving 11 going down.

20 (14) FALLER : Angels 2 (Widescreen , Subtitled) (18, 12.99, MIA)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

A team of female experts in martial arts take a holiday in Malaysia and
are reunited with a friend who idolises Hitler. One of the girls fall for
his charm, and it's up to the others to destroy him.

Also available is a P&S/dubbed version of this film, and a WS/dubbed
version of "Angels (Iron Eagles)"

19 (13) FALLER : Once Were Warriors (18, Entertainment in Video, EVS1171, 12.99)

This New Zealand film centres on a family with more than its fair share
of problems. After 18 years of marriage, Beth still finds Jake desireable
but he spends most of his time in a bar getting drunk and violent.
Also, they have one son is a gang, the other in a welfare home, and their
daughter is the most vulnerable offspring of all.

18 (12) FALLER : Weekend at Bernies II (PG, Entertainment in Video, EVS1192, 12.99)

After a weekend with the late Bernie Lomax, Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan
Silverman return home to find they've been sacked from their job on suspicion
of embezzlement. There is an answer though. Bernie has some money stashed
away in a Swiss bank account, but first they've got to drag him out of the
mortuary...

17 (5) FALLER : Timecop (13.99, 18, CIC)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

Jean Claude Van Damme is Max Walker, a cop in the future who time travels to
the past to catch up with villains who make a living by taking advantage of
going back and forth in time. However, you can't go into the future from the
present as it hasn't been created yet (not that that stopped them in "Back To
The Future" :).
Ron Silver is Senator McComb, a politician so bent that he failed technical
drawing at school because he couldn't get a ruler that was straight(!)

Things become personal as McComb stops at nothing to win the 2004
election campaign by going back in time by 10 years to 1994 and inadvertantly
killing Walker's wife (Mia Sara), and blowing their house to smithereens.
Does Van Damme sit back and let it all happen, or does he go back in time
to stop McComb's dastardly deed? If you need a serious answer to a question
like that, maybe you'd prefer "Howard's End".

A real bummer though, that CIC have *again* ignored issuing a widescreen
version, and just chucked out a regular P&S tape.

Dominator's rating : 7/10

16 (9) FALLER : Starman (PG, 14.99 Widescreen, LDD)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

John Carpenter's tale of a man from outer space (Jeff Bridges) meeting up
with a woman on Earth (Karen Allen).

15 (6) FALLER : Solitaire for 2 (15, Entertainment in Video, EVS1177, 12.99)

Drama with the babelicious Amanda Pays (Max Headroom, Leviathan).
Not sure what its about though.

14 NEW ENTRY : Love Affair (1994) (12, 9.99, Warner)

The classic film remade with hubby-and-wife team Warren Beatty and Annette
Bening. This remake hasn't got particularly good reviews, and originally went
straight to video for rental, but shortly after was given a limited cinema
release.
What is interesting is that not many new videos are given a price-tag of
just UKP 9.99. Makes a change from the high prices that are being charged
for some of them.

13 NEW ENTRY : Speechless (12, 9.99, Warner)

And here's another 9.99er, which coincidentally also went straight to video
for the rental market.
Michael Keaton and Geena Davis star in this romantic comedy about two
people who meet in an all-night store and discover they have much in common,
but don't know at the time that they are both political speechwriters and
work for opposite candidates. When all is discovered, the romance turns to
rivalry.
Director Ron Underwood's film also stars Bonnie Bedelia (Die Hard), Ernie
Hudson (Ghostbusters) and Christopher Reeve.

12 (7) FALLER : Wallace & Gromit - A Close Shave (U, 9.99, BBC)

Following "A Grand Day Out" and "The Wrong Trousers", the third film in
the animated series from Creature Comforts Award Winner Nick Park is released
and this time Wallace and his dog Gromit are making a successful go at the
window-cleaning business (Gromit has quite a unique method for this). Wallace
falls in love when they clean the windows for the lady who works in the local
wool shop, but her evil dog, Preston, has other plans for Wallace and Gromit's
latest invention : a special machine which can give someone a wash,
a light shave or even a close shave...

This film was first shown on BBC2 on Christmas Eve, but surely by now
Nick Park's Wallace and Gromit deserve a showing on BBC1 ?

11 NEW ENTRY : IQ (U, 13.99, CIC)

Tim Robbins falls for Meg Ryan, who just happens to be the niece of
Albert Einstein, played by Walter Matthau.

10 NEW ENTRY : Bad Girls (15, Fox #8627S, 10.99)

Madeline Stowe, Mary Stuart Masterson, Andie MacDowell and the delectable
Drew Barrymore are four saloon-girls who kill a violent customer and then go
on the run from the law, and try to start a new life.
Robert Loggia and Dermot Mulroney (Young Guns) also star.

9 (4) FALLER : Star Trek Generations (PG, 19.99 Widescreen BoxSet, CIC)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

A Widescreen boxset containing the film in 2.35:1, a booklet and some art
cards.

8 NEW ENTRY : Edward Scissorhands (PG, Fox 1867W, Trailer, 12.99 Widescreen)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

Tim Burton's fantasy tale with Johnny Depp as the Freddy Krueger impersonator
and Winona Ryder in usual Winona Ryder-mode. Now with added width for this
widescreen version and the original cinema trailer.

This is soon to be coming out on PAL LD from Encore.

7 NEW ENTRY : Sleeping Beauty (U, 15.99, Disney)

She slept for 100 years. This video is only available for 100 days.

6 (3) FALLER : Kimberley Davies - Your Body's Callin' (10.99)

Who's Kimberley Davies I hear you cry? It's Annalise Hartman from Neighbours,
one of those babes who you never tire of no matter how many episodes she's
in. And now she has released an exercise video. Essential viewing!! :)

5 (2) FALLER : X-Files : The Unopened File (12, 14.99, Fox)

Fox are releasing 4 special edition full length X-Files "movies" available
for a limited period only. The first one is:

Cat number: 8911S
Contains:
Anasazi (Season 2 Cliffhanger)
Blessing Way (Season 3 #1)
Paper Clip (Season 3 #2)

4 (1) FALLER : Halloween (18, 12.99 Widescreen, MIA)

John Carpenter's classic horror film about a psychotic murderer who killed
his sister on Halloween. After escaping from his mental institution, it's
safe to assume that Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis are not amused.
This new widescreen version comes with the original theatrical trailer.
Also out on video to rent now is the latest sequel, "Halloween 6" which
was Donald Pleasance's last film.

3 NEW ENTRY : Airheads (15, Fox #8602s, 10.99)

Brendan Fraser (California Man), Steve Buscemi and Saturday Night Live's
Adam Sandler stars as three heavy-metal dudes desperate to get a recording
contract so break into KPPX Rock Radio and demand the DJ play their tape live
on air.

I'd recommend this if you want an excellent comedy, and the superb cast is
rounded out with Joe Mantegna as the DJ, Michael McKean as the boss of KPPX,
SNL's Chris Farley and cameos from Judd Nelson and Harold Ramis.
I can't remember though if the babe who plays Fraser's g/f is Traci Lords
or Ami Locane. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

If you need any more persuasion, then the director is Michael Lehmann,
director of the cult classic "Heathers".

2 NEW ENTRY : Leon (18, 14.99 Widescreen, Buena Vista)

Luc Besson's superb thriller about a hitman who 'moves without sound, kills
without emotion and disappears without trace', but still finds time to water
the plants in his window-box. A quiet afternoon's exercise is disturbed by
corrupt cop Gary Oldman who pays a visit to the family next door (I won't
describe it in detail so you can experience it for yourself, but it's quite
a treat), and safe to say, a little girl, played by the 12-year-old aspiring
actress Natalie Portman (currently in the cinema hit "Heat") is made
an orphan. She is befriended by Leon the hitman (Jean Reno) who shows her how
to become a hitman and as the film goes by, their relationship bonds.
She wants revenge on Oldman, and asks Leon to help her. Will Leon match up
to this latest hit? You'll have to watch and find out.

For those who thought all the corrupt-cop-against-good-guy ideas had been
taken, here's one you can't afford to miss!

Full marks to Buena Vista for this widescreen release. I wonder if they'll
go for a hat-trick in August with "Die Hard with a Vengeance". However, as
the rental video is a cut 15-cert version, no doubt the WS video will be
the same :(

Now all we need is for Buena Vista to get into the PAL LD market...

1 NEW ENTRY : Reservoir Dogs (18, 14.99 Widescreen, Polygram)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

You know the film.
You know the director.
Just buy it.

16 (12) Star Trek Voyager Vol 1.10 (PG, 12.99, CIC)
15 (11) Star Trek 30th Ann. Trial Pack (PG, 24.99, CIC, cat.no. VHR4229)

Star Trek :
Star Trek : The Cage
Star Trek Next Generation : Encounter At Farpoint
Star Trek Deep Space Nine : Emissary
Star Trek Voyager : Caretaker

11 (8) Batman Forever (PG, 14.99, Warner)
10 Robocop 3 (15, 14.99 Widescreen, LDD)
(Widescreen PAL LD available. Ask for details)

8 (7) Burnt By The Sun (15, 15.99 Widescreen, Guild)

This is the film which was awarded 1995's Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
In 1936, Colonel Kotov, his wife and their young daughter Nadia are making
a happy life in their country home. Then Dimitri, a man on an evil mission,
enters their lives.
This Russian film was directed by and stars, Nikita Mikhalkov.

cat audio, search elvis

or

cat video, search speed

I can make a second search with some catalogues that I have for the complete

find what you're after with the main search engine.
