New Ultra-Wide Format Monitor for Panoramic Viewing

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Intergraph
Computer Systems announced today the exclusive offering of its new -- and
the computer market's first -- high-resolution 28-inch monitor, the
InterView(TM) 28hd96, adding to its line of leading-edge, top quality
monitors. This unique, multisync monitor increases viewing real estate
almost 50 percent over current 21-inch monitor technology. Besides being
an excellent choice for mechanical, electronic design, and mapping
applications, the new InterView 28hd96 is also a superb choice for desktop
publishing, animation, visual simulation, and virtual reality, or for any
application where the user needs to view a lot of data.
Higher Resolution, Sharper Images
Intergraph's TDZ 3D Graphics Workstations with RealiZm(TM) 3D graphics
complement the monitor's high resolution and wide display with no
compromise in features such as color depth and double buffering. (See TDZ
release, May 7.) With a flicker-free, 75-hertz vertical refresh rate
supported at 1,920 x 1,080 display resolution, users get the highest
resolution in the industry for viewing large amounts of information
clearly and precisely. "With brighter imaging and better contrast than
other large-format monitors, this ultra-wide format at resolutions up to
2.3 million pixels gives graphics professionals more detailed images for
better viewing of their models and designs," said Steve Pesto, director of
Workstation Marketing for Intergraph Computer Systems.
Panoramic Viewing
Intergraph's 28-inch monitor's aspect ratio is equivalent to the HDTV
letterbox format, a 16:9 aspect ratio for panoramic viewing. This
standard defines a display area that is almost twice as wide as it is
high. The HDTV wide aspect ratio provides the industry's widest viewing
field and is ergonomically better for human vision by aiding in reducing
eye strain and fatigue. With the monitor's ultra-wide display area, the
user has more room -- one-and-a-half times more than that of a standard
21-inch monitor -- to display more information, more windows, and more
menus. "We are continually working to enhance the user's 3D graphics
experience and the workstation environment," said Pesto. "Users can
increase their productivity by viewing the details in their models and
backgrounds enlarged on the screen while enjoying a richer visual
experience."

Intergraph's 28-inch HDTV-format monitor is available immediately for
