At this moment, it is not clear to me why Roger Dressler is speaking

To all of the active participants in these correspondences, I
highly recommend that you refer directly to my office for factual
information about DTS marketing plans and engineering specifications.
You will be pleased to know that on May 29th, at the Hi-Fi '96
Show in New York, the world's first public demonstration of a
DTS consumer preamplifier will confirm why so many industry experts
have proclaimed that the DTS Digital Surround format is well worth
waiting for.

Well folks, there ya have it... the truth straight from the Director of
Marketing. ;)
Haven't the DTS people been promising to demo a home decoder at trade
shows for the last two years?
Why should we believe them this time?

I would not claim to speak authoritatively about DTS by any stretch of the
imagination. I can speak on Dolby Pro Logic and AC-3, and to some extent
on DVD. I only add information about DTS when there is something vitally
missing from the conversation, and if I happen to have some useful
information at hand either from the WSR DTS sourcebook, from Motorola
public information, or from the presentations of Mike Smyth, whom I've
heard on various occasions. Since there is no one with any in-depth
technical knowledge on DTS here to correct or clarify the errors or
omissions made on the NewsGroups--often by DTS's own "official
representatives" (who are not engineers or even full-time employees of
DTS), I think the best I can do is make such contributions when
appropriate. This is especially necessary since people are getting only
framented information and marketing hype from DTS. By all means, feel free
to represent yourselves. But try to do so accurately. If you find anything
I have said about Dolby or DTS is factually in error, I will be happy to
correct the record. I assume you are aware of my every post, and I have
yet to receive a single notification of any mistakes, either privately or
in the NewsGroups. So I take it I have been reasonably accurate.
While it is indeed useful to have a web page, it is not totally sufficient
to point the NG readers there to solve your concerns about the direction
of these discussions. This is where that action takes place. Please join
us-- here!

Phil:
Actually DTS has demoed DTS processors at a number of trade shows. So
I don't see what the big deal is with yet another DTS demo.
Things will start getting interesting when they actually RELEASE
one.... :)

Which is exactly the impression I got. No attack on the format - just
facts.
