Trouble starting Ratchet and Clank Going Commando

Greetings:

I have bought and returned 4 Ratchet & Clank Going Commando discs. Every
time the game goes thru the opening credits and gets to the point where it
says to "Press Start" (Ratchet & Clank are watching TV in chairs). I press
start and nothing happens. I have the slimline PS2 with the controller that
came in the box.

Am I missing something or have I just got 4 bad discs in a row?
