alt.video.dvdr will be an unmoderated group to
complement alt.video for th e discussion of PC and home equipment based
around

DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW & DVD+R and other types of recordable DVD media

Flame-wars, flooding, spam or any kind of advertising and other off-topic
material is not be allowed.
Binaries and HTML posts are also not allowed, unless somebody has requested
a
specific file or picture in a thread.
All binaries must be kept within that thread

This newsgroup will not be moderated.


REASON FOR NEWSGROUP:

The are currently no newsgroups on usenet for the discussion of DVD-R
products, but searching the internet finds a mass of interest in the subject

Thought I would repost this here since the group has been carried by poodle
for a few months now and can so be looked up by future readers for years to
come
I can't remember when I created this group, but it must be heading for a
year ago now, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY alt.video.dvdr

It is really flurishing now that recordable DVD is becoming a mainstream
computer product, the next step is what will happen in the home deck market,
my gut feeling is that 2003 will be the year of recordable DVD in the home

But who will win the format war Pioneer or Philips (You know my views on the
subject)

BTW there are now several binary news groups for DVD-R images, but my news
server ran by NTL is yet to carry them
