Down with basic DVD-DIVX Forever.
Your Friend

Taken from Barrons Market weekly
The worst scenario is that Circuit City keeps spending big bucks in a
fruitless attempt to make Divx take off. A better one is that DVD is such a
success that Circuit City gives up on Divx before pouring more money into
the sinkhole. Explains Katica: "If they quit Divx, I'd be jumping for joy."
So, too, might the stock, which now trades at 33 3/8 up from 32 15/16 a week
ago but down from a summer high of 55.
Low quality DVD right like Zenith and RCA are known for quality. consumer
reports lists Zenith and RCA at the bottom of almost every repair history
chart.
I know you work for CC because nobody fills excited about a format you can't
own. You just keep paying and paying for the same movie over and over again.
If you really liked that movie so much how will you fill next week when you
would like show a friend how great it looks and you realize you have to pay
once more.
CC Trolls must pay $3.25 to post to this group. Post your credit card so we
can charge you. If you like Divx you should like that idea too.
Gee, makes me kind of hope they keep at it long enough for the stock to reach
about 25 or so.... then buy some stock, they kill the already dead format, and
whammo... stock goes up.
Finally, DIVX makes sense to me now

As long as you pay $4.50 every 48 hours, yes you can watch it forever. Divx
movies only cost $67 per month to rent. What a deal!

That won't happen either.
Divx has a clearer picture than VHS.
But it's much more expensive and you can't record on it.

Hey, buttwipe. There are hundreds of movies not available and Divx, and
probably never will be.

$4.50 initial purchase + $3.99 * forever = does not compute!!!! Wow,
thousands of $$ spent just to watch a $20 movei

YEH, what about those? I know I don't like to see the whole movie. Who the
hell does the director think he is, anyway? Trying to put out movies that
are wide enough to see everything!
Crap, I will get those annoying black bars on the top and bottom if I ever
buy HDTV.

Seriously. This guy posts crap like this just to get a rise out of
everyone, and as long as you keep responding he will keep doing it.
IGNORE THE TROLL!
Phantom
If you want to get rid of people like him, but you *do* feel the need to
respond, do what I do: reply to his message but throw the message header
completely around. It's quite annoying to go through the message headers
of this newsgroup and see a big section with only "DIVX ROX! DVD
SUCKS!". It will stick in the mind of those who come to this newsgroup
to make up their mind about which format to buy. On the average, people
read only about 1-2% of all messages, but they will see *every* message
header. So they'll see a large number of PRO DIVX message headers, while
if you change the header, it would be completely buried in all PRO DVD
headers. This way you will also discourage every TROLL out there that
just wants to show his friends how easy it is to upset so many people
with a single message.

Men pay two dollar for a one dollar item they really want.
Women pay one dollar for a two dollar item they don't need.
Warner and clumbia will never release DIVX....no Gone with the Wind
for you.....all current DIVX titles will come to DVD soon...look at
Paramounts new releases for December.
When you "rent" the DIVX movie...you cant loan it to anyone else
without them paying....even if you upgrade it....your machine is the
only one that unlocks it.....SUCKA.

Well, it's currently $4.50 if you've never played the disc before, and $3.25 if
it's a repeat play. And you'll still have 47 hours and 55 minutes remaining to
watch the movie in that rental period.
>DIVX is not letterboxed ?
Most Divx discs are full-frame. A few titles have been released, or announced
for release, in widescreen editions, but they're the exception rather than the
rule.

Any serious movie goer understands the importance of seeing a movie the way
cinematographers intend them to be.
In fact the biggest improvement of home entertainment in the pass couple of
years was not only the introduction
of DVD which brought high quality sound and picture to a lower, more affordable
price for the general home audience to
enjoy, but also the introduction of the "letterboxed" format. It's time the home
audience should be educated and
understood that cinematography is an essential element in movie making. We've
been deprived of for such a long time!PLee

Uh-huh.
Tell me..... do you intend on spending $3.25 for every 48 hour re-viewing
period? Oh, yeah, you can always convert it to Divx Silver for unlimited
viewing.... ooops, just checked www.divx.com web page, and conversion to Divx
Silver is NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
>Pluse the picture fills my whole

Please see http://www.cs.tut.fi/~leopold/Ld/FilmToVideo/index.html for a quick
education on widescreen movies, how they are filmed, and how they are
transferred to video. Then, you will understand what you are losing,
picture-wise, when you view a recent film without the "annoying black bars"
AKA pan-and-scan.
>I think DIVX is the future

We are waiting for Divx to explode.... into a million pieces. What does Divx
give me that VHS rental doesn't? Better picture..... but at what price?
Let's pull out another movie for comparison..... yo! Apollo 13! Step
forward....
Apollo 13 Divx:
* Initial cost: $4.50
* 48-hour re-rental cost: $3.25
* Cost for Divx friend to view on Divx Machine: $3.25 (even if converted to
Divx Silver)
* Conversion to unlimited viewing: $14.99
* Languages: English only
* Subtitles: None!
* Features: Film only in Pan & Scan
Apollo 13 Open DVD:
* Initial cost: $24.95 (reel.com) for unlimited viewings
* You can loan the disc out to a friend for unlimited viewings for nothing
* Languages: English, French, Spanish
* Subtitles: Spanish (also English captions)
* Features:
* Film in widescreen format
* Commentary by Ron Howard (director) and Jim & Marilyn Lowell
* Documentary on the Apollo 13 flight
* Theatrical trailer
Yeah, $24.95 is a lot to pay for a open DVD disc.... but it's a collector's
disc where Universal pulled out all of the stops. Another open DVD, Contact,
goes for $17.99.
And, besides, Contact and Apollo 13 are better movies than Alien Resurrection.

If he works for CC than he would be stupid to post this crap. He

I must say my two cents worth because I learned a lot from posts
like this.
I really hope that you sober up soon. no one in their right mind
would trade all the goodies available on open DVD for a lame format
like Dievx. Everyone knows that it is dying .(May already be dead)
now all that is left is for these pro-Dievx posters to go off and
start their own group and leave this one for DVD.

On the other hand, I don't have to rewind a DVD nor do end up with VHS

Just one question, do you work for circuit shitty??
Big F-ing deal -- of the Alien series that sucked the worst -- IMHO only
Alien and Aliens are worth pressing disks for anyway!

Is this guy an idiot or what? Yeah -- OK you go with the full screen
version and don't convert to HDTV either, because then you're "full screen"
movies will have annoying bars on the left and right -- what's those about?
