Hi,

I copied 6 18 minute programs from the HDD to a DVD-R disc.

I then labelled each program on the DVD

I then Labelled the DVD disc

I then Finalised the DVD Disc

Now when I put this DVD into the RH7500 it thinks for a while then
ejects the disc saying it is an unknown disc.

Yet this disc plays on my laptop and my other 'basic' DVD player.
So the data is there.

I would have expected the machine that made the disc to be able to play
it.

I repeat the above but I did not label any program or the disc but I
still have the same problem, it will play on other systems but not the
RH7500.

I then copied just 3 of the programs to a blank media and all works
well.
So now I have two discs with 3 programs on them, not a major problem but
a bit of a nuisance.

Can anyone give me any advice as to what the problem could be.

I assume there is a limit to the number of titles that can be recorded
onto a DVD-R media but I would have thought it was far more than 6
titles.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Today I edited two recorded documentaries on the LG RH 7500 HDD and burned
them (not fast mode) on a DVD+R. I edited the menu titles and finalized the
DVD. Tested it on the PC and it plays fine. After reading your message I
tried the DVD in the LG again and it plays fine there too.
Have you updated the firmware?

I thought it was 99, so that can't be the problem.

Hi,

I have tried the following web page to get info about what fixes are
available in the latest firmware and the latest firmware itself.

It doesn't seam to work.

http://test.pier.dk/dvd/LG%20RH-7xxx/Firmware/60126A/

I there another web site that has the info on what is fixed and the
firmware.

I have spent 20 on the phone to LG customer service and just been given
the brush off they really don't seem interested in helping their
customer.

Just as I was about to purchase a LG large screen HD TV.

Have to pick another supplier now.

Thanks

It doesn't seem to work anymore. Luckily I saved the forum page at the time
(below).

------------------------------------------PAGE
START--------------------------------
This is the new firmware 60126A for LG RH-7x00 harddisk recorders.
The firmware has been released by LG Electronics Nordic.
It can be used for the following LG RH-7x00 models
(according to the earlier version 50617A description):
RH-7500, RH-7800, RH-7800H and RH-7900H

! Update with/to this firmware at Your OWN RISC !
I am NOT to be held responsible, for any damages or faulty updates to Your
recorder !

! VERY IMPORTANT !
1) NEVER switch off the recorder during an update.
2) Wait for the update to finish successfully (when the Firmware-CD has been
ejected after the update).
3) After the update has finished, please remember to switch the recorder
off, and then on again - for the new firmware to load, and fixes to work.

The firmware 60126A can be downloaded here.
User: recordere
Password: dk

Also be sure to check my firmware-update guide, for making / burning the
firmware-cd with Nero (with screen-shots), as well as updating the recorder.
User: recordere
Password: dk

Before You start the update, check Your current firmware to see whether this
firmware is older or newer, than Your current one.

For checking Your current Firmware-/Loader- info on RH 7x00:
Press ("Setup", "Lock icon", "7", "8", "8", "9").

It should look something like this (versions on Your recorder may vary):
SET: Ver=60126A Cware=prod045 BSP=23 FME
IO: Ver=R02(D17), Loader: v.30

The Loader version is NOT affected by this firmware-update,
nor is Your recorder's current settings or channel-tunings.

Features / issues addressed in firmware 60126A:

- Timer recording stops after 4 minutes and 1 second, if harddisk is almost
full.
Corrected in firmware 60126A.

- Remember subtitle setting, for XviD/DivX movies, e.g. LATIN-2.
Corrected in firmware 51214A.

- .srt / .sub subtitle bug in XviD / DivX movies (no end time).
(e.g. subtitles in XviD / DivX, are no longer displayed permanently).
Corrected in firmware 51214A.

- Rewind / Fast forward when playing XviD/DivX movies.
(NOT to be confused with goto/search by time).
Will not be corrected by this, nor future firmwares / software,
according to factory - hardware issue / hardware bound.
(Info from LGE Nordic).

- Fast DUBBING to DVD of edited material.
(e.g. FAST copying to DVD, after commercials have been cut away).
Will not be corrected by this, nor future firmwares / software,
according to factory - hardware issue / hardware bound.
(Info from LGE Nordic).

- Using the recorder,
while a timerbased/programmed recording is running.
Will not be corrected by this, nor future firmwares / software,
according to factory - hardware issue / hardware bound.
(Info from LGE Nordic).

- Having to switch off the recorder,
for a timerbased/programmed recording to start.
Will not be corrected by this, nor future firmwares / software,
according to factory - hardware issue / hardware bound.
(Info from LGE Nordic).

- Erasing DVD+RW data discs.
As stated on page 5 in the RH 7500 / RH 7800 manual, at the buttom:
"If a DVD-RW/DVD+RW discs is recorded using a personal computer
or other DVD recorder, you cannot format the disc using this recorder."
So You will have to re-format the disk,
with the same program/dvd-writer, as You did the first time You formated
the disk.

- Better frame accurate editting.
(e.g. cutting away commercials).
Not tested yet.

- High Definition DivX / XviD support (1280 x 720 @ 30 fps),
according to: http://www.divx.com/certification/technical.php.
Not tested yet.

I must admit I have not tested the recorder yet with DVD-R and DVD-RW media.
But all other options work fine here. Perhaps you used bad or incompatible
media? I always use Traxdata media, but other brands must work also. Hope
you get it sorted out soon.
