VideoReDoTVSuite: Anybody Moved From 3.x to 4.x?

Having 3.x and being too cheap to upgrade just on GPs, I've
avoided 4.x.

But since discovering that HandBrake will rip a DVD and burn in
subtitles on-the-fly - but only to an .mkv or .m4v file, 4.x has
started calling out to me.

3.x only opens .MPG. 4.x will open .m4v also - so I don't have
to transcode those HandBrake outputs.

But my trial version of 4.20.7.629 keeps abending on me.

First time, I tried opening up a .M4v file and saving it to .MPG.
Something about "Incorrect parameter...".

"OK, who wants to do that anyhow: my Tivo-On-Steroids media
center (SageTV) plays native .M4v files and with 4.x I can edit
them and/or save them to DVD format..."

That being the case, then I tried opening up a rip of a DVD ("The
Descendants" - main movie only - and saving it to .MPG. 4.x
abended twice in a row - albeit leaving different file sizes
behind.\

Then I opened up the same DVD in 3.20.2.609 and saved it the same
way with no problem - as I've been doing several times a week for
at least a year.

So... bottom line....

Is it just me? It might be - I have an absolute genius for
breaking things.... if I could somehow monitize it, I'd be doing
ok...

Or is VideoReDoTVSuite 4.x buggier than the average app?

It's not like thirty bucks to upgrade is going to break the bank
for me.... but if it can't even do something basic which is my
main use of the app...
