Ouch! I hate whatever control-key combination automatically SENDS
a post without asking, which I had accidentally hit while editing.

Here's a completed compilation (edited OUTSIDE of Pan so that it
won't accidentally SEND the message off before it's done!).

Which of these do you recommend (I only want one) for a kid to
record his mindcraft gaming including his ambient audio commentary?

Which of these do you guys recommend for the following purpose:
a) Works on older (slower) WinXP laptop, IBM A3p
b) Captures a screen area and ambient audio (via external microphone)
c) Easy to use for a kid and saves to a convenient format (avi?)

Does your PC have a web cam?
Does it matter if the video has a manufacturer's watermark?
Do you need to edit the video & add descriptive text?
Do you wish to record the mouse cursor?
Does frame rate matter (1 FPS for time lapse video, or 30 FPS)?
Must you export out of the program to an avi or mp4?
Would a java applet or web based recording application suffice?
Would a 5-minute maximum for the freeware suffice?

The IBM A31p predates web cams & even requires an external mic.
The program should export to a convenient format (avi? mp4?).
I'd rather not have a watermark & rather not use java or the web.
Having a video-length limit doesn't seem like a good thing, so
I'd nix any freeware that enforced those limits.
Frame rate? I had not thought about it. I guess more is better.
Mouse cursor? Again, had not thought of it. Don't know either way.

Editing and annotating the video would be nice, but isn't required
as I'm sure there are already video editing freeware out there for
that task.

So far, the products I'll be looking at for the kid to use on an
old laptop to record mindcraft gaming sessions are the following:
If you can add to the list (or eliminate some), that would make the
final choice of the one freeware to install for the kid to record
his mindcraft gaming sessions easier (including ambient audio).
