Anyone ever hear of this? It's a name given to the upper-class American
accent, used by Jim Backus as Mr. Howell, Katherine Hepburn, Miss Hathaway
on Beverly Hillbillies and others. I think there was a character in 'It's a
mad mad mad world' too. I hate it, but it's kind of amusing too.

In article <35ydnZuSW7dy0bDX...@giganews.com>,

It isn't even limited to America. In the original "Kath & Kim,"
Jane Turner and Gina Riley occasionally play two snobby shop
clerks who speak just like that, only with Aussie accents. Same
nasality and drawn-out vowels. It's very funny.

Huh, I'll look for it. I can't believe someone puts that LVL label on it,
it's hilarious.

I grew up in Nassau County on Long Island, NY, where there is a Locust
Valley on the North Shore ... perhaps it is _the_ Locust Valley of Locust
Valley Lockjaw. I remember it as a very, very upscale community, where Mr.
Howell would have been right at home :-)

They do NOT have a McDonalds.
