I stopped in to a different Best Buy today and asked about ATSC 3.0 TVs.

They had a Sony A90J ATSC 1.0 ATSC 3.0 DTV connected to an indoor
antenna (high up near the ceiling), the transmitters in KC are all to
the west of this Best Buy building, unfortunately, their indoor antenna
was on the east side.

The TV area employee said other people had asked about ATSC 3.0, so they
set up the TV.

I tried to find out if this Sony TV was actually tuning in and
displaying ATSC 3.0 signals, I did a channel rescan, but nothing in the
channel number or EPG indicated that a particular channel was ATSC 3.0.

I thanked the employee for allowing me "play" with this Sony DTV, I got
the model number and said I'd read the manuals for it and be back soon
to try to see an actual ATSC 3.0 broadcast.

Both 38.1 KMCI and 62.1 KSMO did appear in the EPG, but I couldn't find
a way to display the actual RF channel number, I think these were the
new (still ATSC 1.0) subchannels.

Elsewhere (unverified), I read that ATSC 3.0 channel/subchannel numbers
take the form of n.00n, this Sony DTV didn't display any EPG channels in
this way.

I'll head back to the Best Buy and see if the audio format will display,
which will reveal the truth, or perhaps the Diagnostic/Help option to
display the actual RF channel.

I stopped back in to the Best Buy today (and happened to talk to the
same salesperson).

I mentioned that I'd read about some methods of finding out if a
particular channel is from an ATSC 3.0 broadcast, we tried a method
(Help submenu - actual RF channel number, which also displayed the
broadcast system, in the case of ch 25 and 32, ATSC 3.0)

I don't know if the ATSC 1.0 broadcasts are being sent for ATSC 3.0
broadcast by sending the MPEG-2 video/DD audio then decoding and
reencoding with the new ATSC 3.0 video and audio codecs.

All I noticed was some mosquito noise on the edges of large white text
on one (ATSC 3.0) channel, the other (ATSC 3.0) channels w/text didn't
have this noise.
