Hi All,
Would like to get video editing software to edit a lot of video I have and
would like to know what video editing software you guys recommend that wont
break the bank. Something around $100. would be good.
I have moviemaker but was told that there are a lot better software programs
that make it a lot easier to edit with. Any help is appreciated.

I dont use anything other than AVID XPress Pro, but last year I tried
"Pinnacle Studio" and it seems adiquate for desktop use, the upgraded
version of that is caleed Pinnacle Liquid.

My friend uses Sony "Sonic" (?). Sony would likely create a
proprietary filetype thopugh, so be prepared for that.

Depends on what you want to do...

There is Adobe Premire Elements in your price range.

Thanks Chris for the info. I appreciate your help.
I was a cameraman for NBC news for 38 years but always had editors do the
finishing for us.
Now that I retired I have years of family film that I am putting all
together and would like to edit something nice for all the family to see and
keep..

From what I've read Pinnacle is alot simple to use than Premiere and should
offer the same level of functions.

I've used it for a year and a half now and several Authored DVDs later am
very happy with it and its ease of use.

Well, within price range as well

Thank you Alex for the info. I was going to choose between Pinnacle Studio
Plus 9 or Ulead Video Studio 9 and it looks like I will get Pinnacle as more
editors seem to like that software over most others. Pinnacle goes for $99
here at Best buy.

You should start with a program that exceeds your needs at this time. As you
grow in skills you will find you need features not provided in the cheaper
programs and will be faced with the imparitive to relearn a new program as
well as learn the additional features. Editing is a rewarding art but it can
be perplexing at times. I use sony movie studio, platinum edition, it cost
$125 and seems to be a well designed program. Sony was suppose to rebate $25
but reneged. I find their products to be first rate but their customer
service is severely lacking. mr_...@peoplepc.com.
