There once was a guy named othello

Poetry Slam RULES:

You have to write it RIGHT NOW! Spur of the moment stuff! Immediacy is
Key!
Spontenaity & originality is important! Helps enormously if you're hung
over and have a stop watch to time yourself.

POINT OF SLAM - can _you_ produce a poem in under a minute? Can it spring
forth from your brain like Athena from Zeus? ARE YOU INSPIRED???

or have your muses deserted you? Find out.

*an amusing little ditty, but unfortunately disqualified because it was
pre-written. Try again, Jen.

Okay, maybe I'm just a functionally-illiterate pervert, but you guys
wouldn't believe what Vic's last line "quick lit. lick" sounded like when
you read it fast enough. Go ahead! say it five times fast!

After all, I think it was Alfred, Lord Tennyson, who once said that if the
words to a poem do not come as easily as leaves to a tree, they had better
not come at all. At least I think it was Tennyson.

Untitled
========

At last, you stand in the darkness.
Monochrome shades of utter starkness.
Look into the light from your eyes.
Shut out your miserable cries.
See furnace fiery bright.
Fates' cruel stinging blight.
As it catches you across the face.
Confrontation turns to chase.

Hoped to forget this, never returned.
But your memory's betrayed you and you are burned.
As claws dig in and drag you back.
Back into the illuminated black.
No longer bloody mindless thing.
Throw back your head and raise a grin.
And let fangs show as you laugh and growl.
Until again you become that snivelling fowl

I must correct my sister on one small but Vital point of
order per Poetry Slam RULES ---

Use of the word "Nantucket" in any verse is grounds for
automatic disqualification.

There once was a Madman who's Sane
Who wished to catch hold of some fame.
He tried to write poems
And attempted to blow 'em
It blew and turned out to be lame...

Is that the idea?

There was a coyote named Trickster
Who's fangs did significantly glister.
She was picked up of murder
But she said she didn't hurt her,
That it was actually a blood-drinking Mister.

I cannot believe I was able to write two of these in the same lifetime.

Hey, hey, hey. I think I need to take a moment to step in here. From

Dear mindless fuckwit:

One off-topic post does not warrant a whole lot of action. Generally,
it's a fly-by situation wherein the perpetrator will not be back.
However, some situations arise where clueless imbicles consistently post
off-topic material after being informed of their undesired (as relating
to what the newsgroup is about) behavior. These moronic pests do,
however, warrant the scorn that is heaped upon them for being so
monumentally dense. I'm sure you can figure out which category you fit
into.
