I really enjoyed this novel and its two follow-ups (66 A.D and 79 A.D).
I don't like to give plot details away but the structure and
organisation of vampire society is well thought out and the historical
setting is an integral part of the story rather than something chosen as
a selling point.

The characters are interesting and there is plenty of intrigue along
with the suspense and storytelling.

There are few novels that I re-read but these are among them.

Hey Incubus. Nice to hear from you again. I'm interested inthis novel, but I can't seem to find it Iwhich isn't surprising, considering the small town in which I live. Maybe if I can get into a used bookstore?

Can you say a bit more about the story, like where and when it's sent? Maybe something about the main characters and plot?

Vampires vs. Jesus? Looks intriguing.

Hi. It has been a while, has it not?

I got mine on Amazon, where I think it is still available in paperback
form.

It is set in the Holy Land around the time of the events recorded in the
New Testament. One of the main characters was a follower of the nailed
god until he was accidentally turned into a vampire by the other main
character, a thoroughly ruthless vampire.

I definitely recommend it.

This one is quite brutal (Vampire Vow, by Michael Shiefelbein):
