Here's a FYI for you NFL fans. Even though I'm going to subscribe anyway,
it's the time of the year to call and complain that the package is too
expensive. DirecTV begins billing in July $44.99 for NFL Sunday Ticket and
$16.99 for NFL Super Fan, both billed for the next six months.
End result after complaining: Sunday Ticket for six payments of $24.99 and
Super Fan thrown in for free.

Joe,

What did you say to get Directv to lower the rate?

Joe,

What did you say to get Directv to lower the rate?

I told them I wanted to cancel because the rates were too high. After much
keyboard tapping on her end, she offered my the $24.99 X 6 rate.
Further explanation...we moved in 08 and as an incentive to resign with
Direct they threw in the 08 Sunday Ticket. After the season was over, I
called and told I didn't want it for 2009 and to not automatically bill me.
They starting billing me anyway and that's when I called and complained.
Even if you're not currently being billed and want to try it, it wouldn't
hurt to call and negotiate. The customer service people seem to have the
authority to adjust billing rates on the spot.
FYIW, I wouldn't pay for the Super Fan package unless you really want to
watch 8 games at once on the same channel and be alerted every time a team
is in the red-zone.
Let us know the price if you follow through and order it.

I have had directv and sunday ticket for 5 years. The billing went
from 4 months @ $44 to 6 months @ $44 last year. I don't have the
super fan package. I will have to give them a call and see what they
will do for me,.
