I downloaded the online PDF Brochure on the new Central Rent-A-Car Center
(thanks Walt).

It mentions (on page 2 at the bottom right of the brochure) that after you
return your car here you can not only print your boarding passes at the
Rent-A-Car Center (assuming you already don't have them), but also you can
check your luggage here bypassing the airline ticket counters, etc.
entirely. It mentions this can be done at the "Airport SpeedCheck Advance"
self-service kiosk within the Rent-a-Car Center.

If you have luggage this could A) save quite a bit of time at certain times
when the airline check-in lines are long even for outside skycap luggage
check-in, and B) you wouldn't have to lug your luggage onto the bus and
then off the bus and then through the terminal to the luggage check-in
line. On the downside, it mentions a service fee applies..

Is this "Airport SpeedCheck Advance" kiosk up and running yet at the Rent-
A-Car Center? Has anyone used it yet? Is it fast/reliable? Have you
encountered lines here as well? How much does it cost?

Any info appreciated.

I've encountered 200+ people long lines at McCarran on a few occasions
while attempting to check luggage and thought this might be an alternative
assuming the cost isn't ridiculous?

Thanks,

SteveT

The cost is a couple dollars a bag. I didn't see huge lines there on a
Sunday. Please note that you can't check in with all airlines there-
when I checked, Southwest and US Air and some other airlines were
rperesented, but Alaska (the airline I was flying) wasn't.
