I've lived in Las Vegas since before the Luxor opened and I've never heard
about anybody committing suicide at the Luxor, let alone by jumping. Please
elaborate!
Well it's a long drop.........see http://www.boliston.com/lux.jpg

According to the book 'SuperCasino', many people have committed suicide
by leaping from the walkways of the upper floors of the Luxor. Most
of these have been in the middle of the night, causing a minimal
disturbance of casino operations. But one woman did in the middle of
the afternoon and wound up landing near enough to a check in line to
actually splatter the queued guests with her blood.

It's also a long drop from the club atop the Rio...doesn't mean anybody has
jumped from there.
The stories regarding the people of Vegas are really interesting and make
the book worthwhile.
A must read for any Vegas fan.

Haven't read that one yet - sounds like I need to put it on my Christmas
list. Have you, or has anybody, read the book License to Steal (I believe I
have the title right), about the Nevada Gaming Commission?
as far as the other suicides are concerned most were committed by men &
were messy. i.e. man shot himself in the head with a .357 out in front
of HR.
there have also been a few murders that no one wishes to discuss!!!

The balconies above the check in are too low surely! To get enough hight
you would need to land near the center of the next floor up (near the
mexican restaurant)!

I started seeing License to Steal in local bookstores around July
or thereabouts. It's a bit pricey (~ $35) for a book that isn't
exceptionally thick, so I think I'll either wait for the paperback or
get it as a gift. I flipped through it at Borders and it looked very
interesting.
