I booked their Hoover Dam tour in late August for Sept. 7 and called
the company to confirm when I got to Vegas last Tuesday, 9/6. They told
me that I was the only person in America who wanted to take the tour
that day, so they cancelled. OK, the booking agent put me on a cheaper
tour by Hoover Dam Tours. The other tour was nice enough, an enjoyable
day. I was now dealing with 3 different co.s, the booking agent,
Paradise Found (a decent guy to deal with) and the 2 tour companies
mentioned. I smelled problems and kept all my receipts.
When I spoke to Comedy on Deck Sept. 6, they told me they didn't bill
my charge card, but after I got home and opened my credit card
statement today, there was the $51 charge for them (I also paid $18 to
Paradise Found which was no problem). Also had to pay the newer tour
company $22 cash and got a paper receipt for that. Today I called
Comedy on Deck and when I asked the bitch on the phone why they even
bothered to charge my card since they cancelled the tour, the $#@@ hung
up on me rather than admit something like maybe her boss thought that
all tourists were stupid scum and wouldn't fight an extra charge on
their card because they didn't know how. I then called my credit card
company and got an immediate dispute/cancellation of the $51 charge.
I'll also get a follow-up letter from them.
DON'T BOOK the "comedy Hoover Dam tour" because the company sucks. And
the other tour company guides are just as friendly and funny at a lower
cost.
Jack
I been on the dam tour and didn't like it much myself,
also ate at the dam snack bar and got some dam suveineers.
where do you buy the dam bait?
At the dam bait store. There's also dam beer and dam snacks available there.
I called the booking agency today to tell them about the poor service I
got from Comedy on Deck and the booking agency guy stood up for them.
He told me the reason my phone call was disconnected is that the
mom-and-pop operation uses cell phones that cut out on them, that they
are really caring people. This may or may not be true. But I told him,
in reply, that the trip was cancelled on Sept. 7 and yesterday, Sept.
15, my credit card company had no record of the ditzes from Comedy on
Deck attempting to cancel or reverse the $51.99 charge they put on my
card - 6 full business days after they knew they weren't entitled to
the money. I told the guy they lost a lot of goodwill from me with that
action. I also suggested that the comedy tour company cancel 2 days in
advance because a last minute cancellation pisses off customers more
than a 2 day in advance cancellation. He all but tried to make me feel
guilty for the cost of the chargeback. Like I give a shit after the
caused me problems and forced me to go to extra effort to protect
myself from their charges. If they can't run an efficient business,
there are consequences to it, be it from me or another customer.
This guy from the booking agency seemed to be good guy and a smooth
talker. But the comedy tour company seems to be run by actors, not
business people, who try too hard to please everyone. Sometimes that
works out and sometimes it doesn't.
Either way, they left a charge on my card for 8 days that they weren't
entitled to it (the day they cancelled the trip) and I'm not giving
them the benefit of the doubt because of that FACT.
You could get the standard, cheaper tour from Hoover Dam Tours or
someone else for $30 cheaper and it would be just as good, in my
opinion and experience.
