Best Slots? Worst Slots?

Hello,

I am going to Las Vegas for the first time during the week of August 6th. I am
wondering what some of your personal experiences have been regarding the best
and worst of your outcomes with the slots.

In other words, which slots from which casinos have treated you the best? And
which have treated you the worst?

Is it true that they're all the same with regards to winning probabilities? Or
do some casinos program their slots with better winning percentages than
others?

I'm staying at the Four Queens Hotel? How do the slots generally fare there?
Do the slots at the strip casinos pay off better than the ones downtown?

These are the types of questions running through my mind.

I'm a novice at this, but when I was playing the quarter slots last summer at
Tunica, Mississippi, I kinda formulated a strategy. First, I noticed all these
people running around like chickens, plucking coins in this machine, then that
machine, in a totally random and frenetic fashion. This struck me as crazy.

I tried a different strategy. I walked around patiently until I found a
machine that "looked good." Call these superstitions, but I like slots that
are: (1) located at an odd numbered position from either end (2) has nobody
playing to my immediate left or the right when I sit down. If my machine
wipes out my first $20 without giving me any type of thrill, I moved on to
another machine. Overall, I came out ahead to the tune of $500, just on the
quarter slots alone.

Is there a science to playing the slots in such a fashion that will maximize
your odds of winning? Or is it ALL JUST LUCK? Are there any good books out
there on successful slot machine playing?

Sorry for all the questions. But any and all comments will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Dennis

I've had the most luck on 'Wheel of Fortune' $1 slots. There's one in
particular, where I won $500 and $1000. But it's at Stateline, about
30 min
from the Strip. I've also seen someone win $5000 or so at the same
group of machines there.

The only other 'jackpot' I've won was at Circus Circus. $600 after
only playing
$10.....it was a random machine and I wouldn't know where it was even
if I
went back to find it.

I don't have any particular strategy, since it's really all luck. Even
'hot' machines go thru a downtime where they just suck all your coins
in. That's why
I stick to sportsbook, where it's up to YOU to pick the winner and not
up to chance & luck. I won $500 last night on a game. Previously, I've
won several $700+ games.

Dennis, I seam to have good luck at MGM Grand,
Luxor,NY/NY,Mirage,T.Isand, and Paris. Last year I profited around
$2000.00 on the Quarter machines (splitting it with my wife)from these
hotels.Know then to quit and call it a day, or take a break or go to a
different hotel, when the coins stop falling.

P.S. Do not get drunk. The drinking making you keeping playing when
you should quit.

Good luck in Vegas. I will be there Sept.17-21

There is no science to playing a slot machine (even though some will
represent there is, at least as far as certain "bank" style machines).
It all depends on (if you will) "LUCK" (and the RNG).

Sometimes you'll win. Mostly, you'll lose. That is the only outcome
for a device that (at it's BEST) guarantees a 98% payback.

I'll guarantee you the same thing. For every dollar you give me, I will
guarantee to give you back $.98. That's a good deal........... isn't
it?

But Chuck, even the 98 cents is over the long haul, and that can be very
long. I doubt if over a short period of time you should guarantee more than
.75.
Just IMHO

I have had good luck playing $5 slots at: Harrahs, Caesar's, Bellagio, and
Venetian. I have had good luck playing $1 slots at Venetian, Caesars, Bellagio,
GNugget, and Mandalay Bay. I have had good luck at 50cent slots only at TI. I
have had good luck at 25 cent slots at Venetian (of all places!). I have never
had any real luck playing slots at Mirage and Rio (though I stupidly keep
trying, bad karma there for me I guess (or the logical reason would be that
their machines are programmed to payout less!). I also tried the 50 cents and
$1 machines at Sam's Town for the first time on my last trip in June. I kept
hitting consistently for small pots but I still lost a little ($40 over two
hours) overall but would recommend it if you're trying to get the most play for
your money since the machines "seemed" programmed for more consistant but
smaller payouts overall. Good Luck!

I'll stick with my guarantee of $.98 back on every dollar.

Long haul, short haul. It don't matter to me.

Dennis,

According to Casino Player Magazine the slots downtown have a higher
payback than the strip. I prefer machines with lots of small payouts
rather than 1 large payout
(Nevada Nickels, WOF $'s, Megabucks, etc). There are many books about slots,
but if the writers were winning, they wouldn't be writing.
