Just received this e-mail from the Guggenheim Las Vegas museums:

"I wanted to let you know that effective Monday, Nov. 5th, the Guggenheim
Las
Vegas and Guggenheim Hermitage museums will be offering discounts to Nevada
residents and seniors. The tickets will be priced at $12 per museum.
Nevada residents must show proof of residency for the discount. Visitors 60
years of age or older, or who present a valid AARP card, are eligible for
the senior discount.

We hope you are able to visit our museums on your next trip to Las Vegas.

Sincerely,

Erin O'Malley
Customer Service Representative"

Well after much pressure they now are discounting tickets. I guess they
too, need the customers.

Looks like Cliffy now qualifies for a DOUBLE discount! Maybe he can now
afford to see both, instead of the one he got to see for FREE!

(FWIW, crowds at the Guggenheim have been well below expected
turnout....... thus the discounts begin. Look for them to expand the
discount policy as crowds dwindle, probably offering 2 for 1 admissions
during the weekdays).

Sometimes you gotta go, where every Claven is insane!
Where every Cliffy post spawns flames
You gotta be where you can see, that Berman is still inane
You gotta be where Cliffy is still insane!

Very cool was going to take Ma anyway. But this will make it cheaper and I
love that smile. I have to say the more different kind of things Vegas puts
in is a big plus to me and my family.

Sincerely,

Finally, being a 60 year old cheapstake pays off for Shrek.
Not to mention 50% off lap dances he gets from gay strip
clubs he so fondly loves.

Hey Shrek, Fred Flintstone called, he wants HIS head back! (LOL)

After talking with one of their Representatives a few weeks ago, I was told
they were going to be in Las Vegas for a long time and they were going to
implement the discounts in an effort to show their good will toward the Local
Community.

I thought both shows were excellent, and well worth the $15.00 price, heck
that's less than one hand. ;-))

The Masterpieces and Masters collection is small, only about 45 pieces,
however, it greatly depicts the transition from the late Impressionism to the
Cubism style of painting.

Although I am not a motorcycle fan, the motorcycle show was interesting, and
the architecture was outstanding. The Frank Gehery installation alone is worth
seeing, as is the Rem Koolhaus architecture. This show has been a sell-out at
their museums in Spain and New York.

I thought the museums were a good way to spend a few hours.

<This is a new one on me. What are the Guggenheim Las Vegas museums?>

They are two museums that opened at the Venetian in October- they are housed in
separate quarters - a small one at the front by the lobby, this has the
paintings - "Masterpieces and Masters" - a joint collaberation between the
Guggenheim in New York and the Hermitage Museum in Russia.
There are about 40 paintings in a blend of modern and impressionist styles,
represented by such artisits as Gaugin, Monet, Cezanne, Picasso and Manet. It
is known as the "Guggenheim Hermitage".

The other is the huge 2 story "Guggenheim Las Vegas" which is back by the
escalators leading up to the Grand Canal Shops. It is a collection of around
140 bikes on loan from various collectors, and it has been shown at the
Guggenheim in Spain and New York.

I enjoyed both museums!
